ChatGPT Business (formerly ChatGPT Team) pricing, as of October 2026, is $25 per user per month billed monthly or $20 per user per month billed annually for a Standard seat, and $125 or $100 for a Premium seat, with a minimum of two seats and a maximum of 200 paid seats per subscription. That is the license. A company budget has three more lines: credits for advanced usage beyond what a seat includes, the one-time setup work (workspace, identity, data controls, migration and training), and the administration after launch. OpenAI does not publish ChatGPT Enterprise pricing; it is quoted by its sales team.
This guide covers all four lines. If you have not yet decided between personal Plus or Pro seats and a workspace, start with ChatGPT Business vs Plus and Pro; if Enterprise is on the table, ChatGPT Business vs Enterprise lists what the quote buys.
How much does ChatGPT Business cost per user?
OpenAI's list prices, in US dollars, as of October 2026. The What is ChatGPT Business article notes that pricing may vary by country and currency.
| Plan | Price | Billing | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Free | $0 | None | Individuals |
| ChatGPT Go | $8 per month | Monthly; may include ads | Individuals |
| ChatGPT Plus | $20 per month | Monthly, card | One person |
| ChatGPT Pro | From $100 per month, in $100, $200 and $500 tiers | Monthly, card | One heavy user |
| ChatGPT Business, Standard seat | $25 per user per month, or $20 billed annually | Monthly or annual, card | Companies of 2 to 200 people |
| ChatGPT Business, Premium seat | $125 per user per month, or $100 billed annually | Monthly or annual, card | Heavy users inside a Business workspace |
| ChatGPT Enterprise | Custom pricing, quoted by OpenAI sales | Annual contract; invoicing; credit-based or token-based | Larger or regulated companies |
OpenAI's own worked example in its billing and seats article: 10 Standard seats and 5 Premium seats billed monthly come to $875 a month. The mechanics behind that number matter for a budget. You are charged for every seat you have bought, assigned or not. Adding a seat triggers an immediate prorated charge; reducing seats takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle; on an annual plan, added seats stay committed through the end of the term. Removing a member frees the seat but does not reduce the paid count until you schedule a reduction. Payment is by card: invoice billing, bank transfer, ACH, purchase orders and net terms are not available on self-serve Business and cannot be switched on by support. Nonprofits can apply for up to a 75 percent discount on Business or Enterprise through OpenAI for Nonprofits, and businesses in VAT regions can enter a tax ID at checkout.
What is the ChatGPT Team price now?
The same as the Business price above, because ChatGPT Team was renamed ChatGPT Business on August 29, 2025. Existing Team workspaces became Business workspaces with their contracts intact, and invoices now say ChatGPT Business. Any Team price you find on an older page predates the current seat structure; Premium seats, for example, only arrived on August 24, 2026. If you are searching for a Team subscription, a Team license or a Team workspace price, this table is the current answer.
What is included in a Business seat, and what costs extra?
Included in every seat, per OpenAI's business pricing page: ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex on web, desktop and mobile; connections to Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Microsoft 365 and other apps; a workspace with SAML SSO, MFA and domain verification; centralized billing and administration; usage analytics and spend controls; workspace agents; and no training on business data by default. Instant chat is described as virtually unlimited. A Standard seat includes 15 Pro-model messages a month; a Premium seat includes 50 a week, five times the usage of Standard and no five-hour usage window, per the Business models and limits article. Each user gets 25 GB of file storage, with 100 GB per organization and 40 files per project.
What is billed separately:
- Credits for advanced usage. Owners buy credits under Workspace settings, pooled across the workspace and valid for 12 months. Core features such as search, file upload and canvas need no credits; credits cover reasoning and Pro models beyond the included allowance, deep research, image generation, voice and ChatGPT Work or Codex beyond a seat's window. OpenAI's rate card lists, for example, 10 credits per message for a GPT-6 reasoning response, 50 per Pro message, 50 per deep research task, 5 per image and 1.25 per voice minute. Using ChatGPT inside Slack or Microsoft Teams also draws on credits.
- Spend controls you must set. By default no seat or user has a credit limit. Owners and admins can set monthly credit limits per seat type, per-user overrides, usage alerts and automatic reload. Set them on day one.
- The API. A Business subscription does not include API usage, and API credits do not transfer into a workspace. Anything built with the API (an integration, a custom application) is billed per token on the platform; OpenAI's API pricing page lists, for example, GPT-6.1 Sol at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens as of October 2026.
- Dots. OpenAI's always-on agents require a Premium seat on Business.
What does setting up ChatGPT Business for a company cost?
The seats are the predictable part. A two-person firm can create a workspace and start in an hour. For a company, the setup cost scales with decisions rather than headcount, and that is why quotes for the same seat count differ. NetSys quotes setup after a scoping call and publishes no price list; the quote itemizes the following, and each line moves the number.
| Setup item | What the work is | What moves the cost |
|---|---|---|
| Plan decision and scoping | Business or Enterprise, seat types, who is in the first wave | Whether the decision is made or still open; whether legal or procurement must review terms |
| Workspace, domain and billing | Create the workspace, verify the domain, set two owners, agree how finance receives the invoices | Usually fixed; more if several domains or legal entities share one workspace |
| Identity | MFA at minimum; SAML or OIDC SSO with Microsoft Entra ID, Okta or Google | SSO adds identity-provider configuration and a pilot; Enterprise SCIM adds attribute mapping and testing |
| Data controls and policy | Memory, retention, sharing and app defaults; a one-page usage policy | Regulated data (health, finance, legal) adds review time and a longer policy |
| Apps and shared assets | Enable approved apps, test them with low-privilege accounts, build the first shared projects or agents | Each app is a permissions review; each shared asset is a small build with a named owner |
| Migration | Move staff from personal accounts into the workspace | The number of people with work history to preserve |
| Training and handover | Role-based sessions, pilot tasks, written handover | Number of groups and whether sessions are on site or remote |
The step-by-step version of that work is in our ChatGPT Business setup checklist.
What are the ongoing costs after launch?
- Seats as staff change. Reductions wait for the next cycle, and annual seats are committed for the term, so a company that churns staff should favor monthly billing or buy a smaller annual base and add monthly seats on top.
- Credits. Review the usage report monthly. A few people running deep research daily will outspend the rest of the company; per-seat-type limits keep that visible.
- Administration. Joiners and leavers, reviewing new apps and shared agents before they spread, re-checking settings when OpenAI ships a feature, and the custom GPT retirement scheduled for December 11, 2026, which means migrating any GPTs you built to plugins before then. In a small company this is a few hours a month for a named owner; NetSys covers it under managed AI services for a flat monthly fee per user.
- Training refreshers. The tool changes often enough that a short session each quarter keeps usage honest. The cost of training employees on ChatGPT depends on the number of groups and the format; our AI training for employees is quoted per plan. (Searches for the cost of training ChatGPT sometimes mean training the model itself; a Business workspace does not train or fine-tune models, so for a company that cost is zero.)
Worked budget examples
These are illustrative, built only from OpenAI's list prices as of October 2026. They assume no credits in the first quarter and leave the NetSys setup fee out, because that is quoted per company.
- An eight-person firm, all Standard seats. Annual billing: 8 seats at $20 is $160 a month, $1,920 a year. Monthly billing: 8 at $25 is $200 a month, $2,400 a year. If three people were paying for personal Plus, cancelling those saves $60 a month against the new cost. Setup is light: workspace, domain, MFA, memory and app defaults, one shared project per team, one training session.
- A 40-person company, 34 Standard and 6 Premium seats. Monthly: 34 at $25 plus 6 at $125 is $1,600 a month. Annual: 34 at $20 plus 6 at $100 is $1,280 a month, $15,360 a year. Setup includes SSO with Microsoft Entra ID, SharePoint and Outlook apps with an Entra admin consent step, migration of a dozen personal accounts, four shared agents or projects and three training groups.
- A 220-person company. Over the 200-seat Business cap, so Enterprise, quoted by OpenAI. Budget the identity and compliance work (SCIM, retention, Compliance Platform integration) as the larger part of setup.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a minimum number of users for ChatGPT Business?
Yes: at least two seats in total, two of either type or one Standard and one Premium. The maximum is 200 paid Standard and Premium seats per subscription for workspaces created since August 24, 2026; unassigned seats count toward it.
Is ChatGPT Business billed monthly or annually?
Either. Monthly is $25 per Standard seat and $125 per Premium seat; annual is $20 and $100 per month, paid for the year. A change of billing schedule takes effect at renewal, and seats added to an annual plan are committed through the term.
Does ChatGPT Business include API access?
No. The workspace subscription and the API platform are billed separately, and API credits do not transfer into a Business workspace. An integration built on the API is a platform cost on top of the seats.
How much does ChatGPT Enterprise cost?
OpenAI does not publish it. Enterprise is custom pricing through its sales team, on credit-based or token-based agreements with invoicing and volume discounts. No official page states a per-user price or a minimum seat count as of October 2026.
Can we pay for ChatGPT Business by invoice or purchase order?
Not on the self-serve plan. OpenAI accepts cards and says invoice billing, purchase orders, bank transfer, ACH and net terms require a contracted offering such as Enterprise.
Do we need Premium seats?
Only for people who hit the Standard limits. Premium gives five times the usage, no five-hour window, 50 Pro-model messages a week and access to Dots. Most staff in a small company do fine on Standard; buy Premium for the named heavy users and move seats as usage shows.
How NetSys quotes setup and support
NetSys publishes no price list for ChatGPT work. Every setup is quoted after a scoping call, and the quote separates the vendor seats (paid by you to OpenAI), the setup project and any monthly administration. Setup under our ChatGPT Business setup service covers the workspace, domain and identity, data controls, the first shared projects or agents and a staff session. Ongoing administration, seat and credit reviews, app checks and refresher training run under managed AI services on a flat monthly fee per user, month to month, with our help desk available seven days a week from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern.
Tell NetSys your headcount, your identity provider and the systems ChatGPT should reach, and the quote comes back itemized: get a scoped setup and support quote.
