Managed IT Services in Ridgewood, NJ
For the small law, accounting and wealth-management firms working above the shops on East Ridgewood Avenue or a short walk from the train. NetSys takes over the whole IT job, from laptops and Microsoft 365 to the firewall, backups and vendors, and our engineers come out from Brooklyn whenever a problem has to be fixed in person.
The short answer
NetSys provides managed IT services in Ridgewood, NJ to boutique professional firms and small offices: device monitoring and patches through NinjaOne, help from engineers by phone or remote session, Microsoft 365 and Intune, ThreatDown on every endpoint, encrypted backups, and the security records advisers, accountants and lawyers are asked to show. The village is inside our on-site coverage, roughly sixty minutes by road from Park Slope, so problems are worked remotely first and an engineer visits for hardware, networks and moves. The monthly fee is set per user after we review the office, and there is no long-term contract.

How managed IT is delivered in Ridgewood
Outside rush hour, an engineer leaving Park Slope reaches Ridgewood in about an hour, and the village sits inside our on-site area. Most of the work never needs a car: NinjaOne reports on every laptop and desktop, updates install on the schedule we agree, and remote sessions settle the everyday problems. An engineer comes to the office for the physical jobs, such as replacing a provider router with a business firewall, cleaning up a closet behind a reception desk, installing access points in a second-floor suite or setting up a new partner's workstation. Small downtown offices often share a building with retail tenants, so visits are booked around the landlord's access rules and the firm's client meetings. Monitoring runs 24/7 from Brooklyn, and so does emergency service. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. The proposal states severe-incident escalation, authorized remediation and any other after-hours work.
Small offices above the shops and near the station
Downtown is the village's central business district, centered on East Ridgewood Avenue, and much of its professional space is upstairs: suites above storefronts, small office buildings a block or two away on streets such as Dayton Street, and ground-floor offices on West Ridgewood Avenue steps from the NJ Transit station. The firms inside tend to be small, from a solo estate attorney to a fifteen-person accounting practice or an independent advisory firm. Their IT usually grew one purchase at a time. Typical findings in offices like these: consumer routers, a storage box in a closet holding every client file, shared passwords on sticky notes and nobody sure who owns the domain. Managed IT replaces that with a business firewall, files in SharePoint with access set per person, documented accounts and a backup that has been restored at least once.
Commuters, home offices and the train to Hoboken
The Ridgewood station is served by NJ Transit's Main Line and Bergen County Line, both running to Hoboken with transfers at Secaucus Junction for Penn Station, so many people here split the week between the village, Manhattan and a home office. That makes identity the real perimeter. We put multifactor sign-in and Entra ID Conditional Access on every Microsoft 365 account, enroll laptops in Intune so they are encrypted and patched wherever they are, and move shared credentials into Keeper. A laptop left on a train can be locked and wiped remotely the same evening, and a replacement prepared through Windows Autopilot signs in with the person's settings. For home offices we check the router and Wi-Fi once, then keep the laptop itself secure, since that is the part we control.
Rules advisers, accountants and lawyers work under
Small firms here answer to demanding rules. SEC-registered investment advisers are covered by Regulation S-P, and since the 2024 amendments they must keep a written plan for responding to incidents and tell affected customers no later than 30 days after learning that sensitive customer information was compromised; advisers with under $1.5 billion in assets had until June 3, 2026 to comply. Tax preparers, and accounting firms that prepare returns, are covered by the FTC Safeguards Rule, which expects a documented security program and, from May 13, 2024, notice to the FTC no more than 30 days after discovering that unencrypted data on 500 or more consumers was exposed. IRS Publication 4557 lists safeguards for preparers, and ABA Model Rule 1.6(c) asks lawyers to make reasonable efforts against unauthorized disclosure of client information. Managed IT supplies the settings and logs that prove it. This is general information, not legal advice.
Storm outages and a 2024 password scare in the village
Two recent events show what a Ridgewood office should plan for. When Ida came through on September 1, 2021, PSE&G reported about 1,080 customers in the village without power by early evening, the Office of Emergency Management warned of flooded roads and downed lines, and the Saddle River, which runs through Ridgewood and Glen Rock, was expected to overflow. In November 2024 the Ridgewood Public Schools detected outside attempts to get into the district network; the intruder could see directory data including encrypted password hashes, and the district reset every user's password as a precaution. For a small firm the lessons are concrete: battery backup for the firewall and switch, a cellular failover line, backups stored away from the office, multifactor sign-in everywhere and sign-in alerts that someone actually reads.

Backups, devices and vendors

- Intune and Windows Autopilot device management, so a new laptop ships sealed and configures itself at first sign-in
Law office: Microsoft 365 with layered security and cloud-to-cloud backup
A 25-attorney firm in the greater New York metro was losing unbillable hours to an outdated file server and an email server that needed weekly attention. NetSys mapped the firm's matters and document workflows first, moved email to Exchange Online and documents to SharePoint and OneDrive in a matter-based structure over a weekend cut-over, layered anti-phishing protection, DNS filtering, multifactor authentication and endpoint protection across attorney devices, and set independent cloud-to-cloud backup of the whole tenant. The firm reported 82% fewer IT support incidents per month within two quarters and about 3.5 hours per attorney per week recovered from IT friction.

What managed IT costs in Ridgewood
Managed IT is priced per user per month for a fully managed agreement, and the number moves with four things more than with headcount: how many servers you run, whether you need after-hours coverage beyond monitoring, how much compliance documentation you carry, and whether we are co-managing alongside an internal person or running everything. We quote from an assessment, not a phone call, and the agreement runs month to month. What belongs in the monthly fee versus what is billed separately is set out on our managed IT pricing page.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: 10 to 75 employees, one or two offices plus remote staff, already on Microsoft 365 or ready to move there, and either no internal IT or one person who is underwater.

Managed IT Services in Ridgewood: FAQs
Do you provide on-site managed IT in Ridgewood, NJ?
Yes. The village lies within the 50-mile area our engineers serve in person, about an hour by car from our Brooklyn office. Visits handle the physical work: firewalls and access points, closet cleanups, new workstations, printer and scanner problems that a remote session cannot reach, and moves between suites. Most tickets are closed remotely without a trip. Monitoring is continuous and emergency service runs 24/7; serious problems such as ransomware, email down or a dead internet line are routed straight to the engineer assigned to your firm.
What do managed IT services cost a Ridgewood firm?
Each user is priced monthly once we have assessed your office, and there is no public number because two ten-person firms can need very different things. The count of people and devices sets the base. Compliance work for Regulation S-P, the FTC Safeguards Rule or HIPAA, a server that has to stay in the office, home-office support and how often an engineer needs to visit move the fee. Projects such as a SharePoint migration are quoted separately, and the agreement itself is month to month.
Which services come with a managed IT plan for a small Ridgewood firm?
For a five- to twenty-person firm the plan covers monitoring and patching of every computer, the help desk, Microsoft 365 and Intune administration, ThreatDown endpoint protection with managed response, Barracuda spam and phishing filtering, Keeper password management, KnowBe4 training and Datto or Veeam backups with restore tests. We manage the firewall and Wi-Fi, keep the firm's accounts, licenses and vendor contacts documented in IT Glue, and handle the internet provider, copier company and software vendors. You also get one account manager whose cell number you will actually have, plus a quarterly review of risks and spending.
Can you support an RIA or wealth manager under the amended Regulation S-P?
Yes, on the technical side. Under the amendments a firm needs written incident response procedures, oversight of the vendors that handle customer data and a process to notify customers within 30 days when sensitive customer information is compromised. We supply the pieces IT controls: multifactor sign-in, encrypted laptops, email protection, ThreatDown monitoring with a documented escalation path, backups, access reviews and logs your chief compliance officer can hand to an examiner. Your firm keeps ownership of the policies and the notification decision, and we document our own role as a service provider so your oversight file is complete.
Is managed IT worth it for a five-person office in Ridgewood?
Usually, if the office handles client financial, legal or health information. A five-person firm has the same exposure as a larger one, a stolen password or an unpatched laptop, without anyone paid to watch for it. A right-sized plan covers a business firewall, endpoint protection, patching, backups and someone accountable when things break. Our published case study of a five-person office shows what that baseline looks like. Because agreements run month to month, a small firm can start, judge the results and leave without a penalty.
