NetSys vs. SWK Technologies
SWK Technologies grew out of business software rather than out of a help desk. They sell and support ERP, and managed IT sits alongside it. If you are weighing them against NetSys, that origin explains most of what follows, so this page starts there.
The short answer
If Sage ERP runs your business, SWK Technologies is a serious candidate, because one firm supports the software your finance team lives in and the network underneath it. If your ERP belongs to another vendor, or you do not run one, that advantage falls away and the choice comes down to what each firm puts in the base agreement and on what terms. NetSys runs month to month with security, AI and recovery included.
What SWK Technologies is
SWK Technologies is headquartered at 120 Eagle Rock Avenue in East Hanover, New Jersey, and lists offices from Philadelphia and New York to Phoenix, San Diego and Seattle. Their about page traces the company to an intellectual property solution for electronic data interchange and a later merger with SilverSun Technologies, which it identifies as publicly traded on NASDAQ under the ticker SSNT. Their managed plan, NetworkAssurance CORE, is itemized more carefully than most: help desk, device and server management, monitoring by their security and network operations teams, patch management, user account and license administration, procurement, business technology reviews and asset documentation.

When your IT firm also owns the ERP
This is the real question with SWK, and for the right company the answer lands in their favor. If your operation runs on Sage, one firm supporting the ERP, the servers under it and the people using it removes an entire category of argument about whose fault an outage is. NetSys does not sell or support an ERP. We manage the infrastructure, identity and security around whatever business software you run, and we build automation across it. Different job, and worth knowing which one you are hiring for.
Co-managed by design, or the whole thing
Co-managed is the model they publish most clearly: you choose which functions to hand over, the scope gets written around the gap you identified, and your own IT lead keeps decision authority while the provider works inside that boundary. For a company with one or two internal people drowning in tickets who do not want to give up control, that is a clean arrangement and it is described plainly. NetSys can work alongside internal staff too, but the agreement we publish is the full one: security, help desk, PAM and PIM, AI and recovery planning under a single monthly fee.
Where the AI work happens
The AI work SWK publishes lives inside the software they resell. A page on Sage Copilot offers to apply their ERP experience so customers get more out of its generative features, which is a legitimate specialty and the right one if your AI question is really a Sage question. Our practice starts from your tenant, not from a product: a readiness assessment first, then Copilot rollouts, custom agents and workflow automation across whatever systems you already run. One does not substitute for the other, and a company already on Sage may end up wanting both.
What each of us publishes
Their column is quoted from pages on swktech.com and links to each one. Ours states what we commit to elsewhere on this site. Nothing below is our opinion of their work.
| The NetSys Group | SWK Technologies | |
|---|---|---|
| Agreement | Month to month. Leave any time, no early-exit penalty. | Their co-managed IT page describes an engagement in which the client selects which functions to hand off, scope is shaped to the identified gap, and the client's IT lead retains decision authority while the provider acts within the scope of the contract. (swktech.com) |
| What the monthly fee covers | One agreement: AI services, cybersecurity, managed IT with help desk, PAM, PIM and disaster recovery planning. | Their NetworkAssurance CORE page lists the components of their managed IT plan as helpdesk support, device and server management, monitoring by Security Operations Center and Network Operations Center teams, Windows patch and update management, user account and license administration, vendor research and procurement, on-demand Business Technology Reviews, and asset inventory documentation, plus seven bundled platforms (network monitoring and management, RMM, email and website filtering, MDR, EDR, anti-malware firewalls and data backup). (swktech.com) |
| Privileged access and credentials | PAM and PIM in the base agreement, each with a published service page describing the work. | We could not find privileged access, privileged identity management or managed credentials named on their site. |
| AI and automation | In-house practice led by Jamie Baum: readiness assessments, Copilot rollouts, custom agents and workflow automation. | Their published AI content addresses AI features built into the software they resell; a page on Sage Copilot states they will apply their Sage ERP experience to help customers get the most from Sage Copilot and its generative AI technology, and invites readers to request a personalized Sage Copilot demo. (swktech.com) |
| Disaster recovery | A written plan plus restores that are performed and timed. More than 30 ransomware incidents handled in three years, every one recovered. | Their backup and business continuity page describes storing backup data both at the client office and in the cloud with 24x7 proactive monitoring, shipping a replacement device loaded with applications and data after a disaster, and using virtualization embedded in the backup device to assume server roles while repairs or replacements are under way. (swktech.com) |
| Who answers | A NetSys engineer, plus a named account manager who gives you a real cell number. | Their New Jersey managed IT page describes unlimited helpdesk support with weekend availability and partial after-hours availability, alongside 24x7x365 monitoring of critical infrastructure and data. (swktech.com) |
| Response commitments | Written into the agreement rather than implied on the website. | We could not find published response-time commitments. |
| Proof before you commit | A free Tier 1 external penetration test. The findings are yours whether or not you hire us. | Their CyberAssurance CORE page invites visitors to contact them for a third-party threat assessment or cybersecurity consult, and their IT support page carries a "Schedule a Free Consultation" call to action. (swktech.com) |
| Where they are | One office, in Brooklyn. On-site coverage across the New York metro, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Florida, and remote delivery anywhere in the US. | Their New Jersey managed IT page describes their service area as all of New Jersey plus Philadelphia, New York City and adjoining areas of Pennsylvania and New York State, and also describes the company as a national provider of technology solutions and services. Four more things worth knowing about SWK Technologies
Size and history
- Their about page describes the company's origins in an intellectual property solution for electronic data interchange (EDI) and a subsequent merger with SilverSun Technologies, which it identifies as publicly traded on NASDAQ under the ticker SSNT. (swktech.com)
NetSys: Independent since 1998. One office, in Brooklyn, and no private equity owner behind the name.
Industries they name
- Their home page names the industries they serve as Construction, Distribution, Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Nonprofit, Professional Services and Retail. (swktech.com)
NetSys: Twenty six industries with a page each, from healthcare and legal to hedge funds, auto dealers and government contractors.
Compliance work published
- Their compliance page names the NIST Cybersecurity Framework as the foundational reference for their CyberAssurance CORE program, states that NIST CSF 2.0 organizes security activities across six functions, and additionally names HIPAA, CMMC, PCI DSS, 23 NYCRR 500 and CCPA/CPRA. (swktech.com)
NetSys: Nine frameworks with a service page each: HIPAA, CMMC 2.0, SOC 2, NIST CSF 2.0, NYDFS 23 NYCRR 500, NY SHIELD, FTC Safeguards, PCI DSS and GLBA.
Rates on the website
- Their IT support page describes pricing as designed around the client's budget and directs visitors to a free consultation or contact form for specifics, without listing rates. (swktech.com)
NetSys: We do not publish rates. We quote per business rather than per seat, after a call, because a thirty person firm with two servers and a thirty person firm with a regulator are not the same job.
What we looked for on their site and could not find
response-time commitments; privileged access, privileged identity management or managed credentials.
That means we did not find it published, not that it does not exist. Ask them directly, and ask us the same questions. If SWK Technologies publishes any of this and we missed it, write to info@netsysgroup.com and we will add it.
The honest fit: is NetSys the right SWK Technologies alternative?
When SWK Technologies is the better choice
If your business runs on Sage, SWK Technologies is the obvious first call, and the same goes for a manufacturer, distributor or construction firm shopping for business software and IT support from one vendor. They also fit a company with internal IT that wants a co-managed arrangement where its own lead keeps the decisions. Their compliance page builds on the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and names HIPAA, CMMC, PCI DSS, 23 NYCRR 500 and CCPA or CPRA.
When NetSys is the better choice
Where the ERP is not the question and the network is, NetSys is the stronger fit. We take the whole environment on one month to month agreement, run privileged access and privileged identity management as standard, and keep 24/7 monitoring behind it. A named account manager gives you a real cell number, and the engineers who set the environment up are the ones who answer for it. Independent since 1998, one office, in Brooklyn.
NetSys and SWK Technologies: FAQs
What does SWK Technologies include in NetworkAssurance CORE?
NetworkAssurance CORE covers help desk support, device and server management, monitoring by their security and network operations teams, Windows patch and update management, user account and license administration, vendor research and procurement, on demand business technology reviews, and asset inventory documentation. Seven platforms come bundled with it, among them remote monitoring and management, email and website filtering, managed detection and response, endpoint detection and response, and backup. It is one of the more specific plan descriptions in this batch, which makes it straightforward to compare line by line.
Is SWK Technologies the same as an ERP consultant?
It is both, which is the whole point. Their published business covers Sage ERP sales and support alongside managed IT, cybersecurity and backup, and the two sides share a customer list. An ERP consultant on its own would not run your firewall or your help desk. A managed IT provider on its own would not implement your accounting system. If you need only one of those jobs done, the combined firm is not automatically the right shape, and the rest of this page still applies.
What is the closest SWK Technologies alternative for a New Jersey company?
For a company whose main need is IT and security rather than ERP, NetSys is the direct comparison: cybersecurity, managed IT with help desk, privileged access and privileged identity management, AI adoption work and disaster recovery planning in one agreement, delivered on site across New Jersey from our Brooklyn office. For a company whose main need really is Sage, the closer alternatives are other Sage partners, and we would say so on the call instead of selling you something else.
How do the contract terms differ?
NetSys runs month to month with no early exit penalty, and our response commitments live in the signed agreement. On their side, contract length, cancellation terms and response commitments were all things we searched for and could not find published, so those answers will come with a proposal. When it arrives, the three lines that matter are the auto renewal date, the notice period, and what happens to your documentation and licenses if you leave. The same three apply to us.
