Manufacturing IT Support in Suffolk County, NY
For manufacturers across Suffolk County, from electronics and aerospace suppliers to pharmaceutical, supplement and food producers, whose ERP, engineering files and shop floor all depend on one network. NetSys keeps production systems running, separates the plant from the office, builds the NIST SP 800-171 controls defense primes expect, and sends an engineer out from Brooklyn when the plant floor needs one.
The short answer
NetSys provides manufacturing IT support in Suffolk County, NY: care of the ERP server or its cloud tenant, CAD and engineering workstations, shop-floor PCs and machine controllers on segmented networks, plant Wi-Fi and barcode scanners, managed detection and response through ThreatDown, and immutable backups with timed restores. For defense suppliers we document NIST SP 800-171 controls; for FDA-regulated makers, the access and audit-trail controls behind electronic records. Engineers come on site across western Suffolk; plants around Yaphank, Medford and Shirley are confirmed for drive time first, and Calverton and the East End get remote support only. Pricing is set per user per month.

Suffolk's manufacturing base, by the numbers
Manufacturing on Long Island has been restructuring for decades, but it has not left. The state Department of Labor's 2025 report counts 14,300 Long Island workers in chemical manufacturing, the region's largest manufacturing industry and more than one in three of New York State's chemical manufacturing jobs, with growth driven by makers of pharmaceuticals and supplements and by generic drug manufacturers expanding locally. Computer and electronic product manufacturing employed 8,900 people and transportation equipment 2,500, much of it precision components, electronics and systems for military and aerospace customers, tied closely to defense contracts. In Suffolk, plants cluster in the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge, around MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma and Bohemia, in Edgewood and at the Calverton Enterprise Park farther east. Most are small to midsize operations: an office, a plant floor, an ERP holding orders, inventory, routings and costing, engineering drawings on a file server, and machines whose controllers the equipment vendor updates rarely, if ever.
On-site plant support across western Suffolk
Plant problems rarely wait for a convenient time. A label printer that stops on the shipping line, a switch that dies in the mezzanine closet or an engineering workstation that will not open a drawing all hold up work in progress. Most issues are fixed remotely first through NinjaOne. When hands are needed, engineers drive out from Park Slope: Edgewood is about an hour away outside rush hour, Hauppauge closer to an hour and a quarter, and our usual visiting range continues east through Ronkonkoma, Bohemia and Holbrook. Plants around Yaphank, Medford and Shirley lie 50 to 60 miles out, and a visit there is booked only after we check the drive. The Calverton Enterprise Park and the East End are supported remotely, with switches, access points and laptops shipped configured and installed by your maintenance staff or electrical contractor. Changes to production networks are scheduled around shifts, never in the middle of a run.
The ERP, the shop floor and the network between them
The ERP is the business: quotes, orders, inventory, routings, costing and shipping. It usually runs on a database server in the building or in Azure, with integrations to the shipping software, the EDI provider and the accounting team. The shop floor adds CNC and PLC controllers, CAD and CAM stations, inspection equipment, time clocks and barcode scanners, many running old Windows versions their vendors certify and will not let you change. We separate the two worlds with a managed Meraki or Fortinet firewall: office, ERP servers, engineering, production equipment and guests each get a segment, with explicit rules about which machines may talk to which. Equipment vendors reach their machines through logged, time-limited sessions rather than always-on remote tools. An ERP server on Windows Server 2016 loses extended support on January 12, 2027, which makes now the time to plan its replacement or a cloud move, with the ERP vendor at the table.
Storms, power and keeping production data recoverable
Suffolk's weather risk is wind, water and long power outages. The August 18 to 19, 2024 storm, which flooded Stony Brook University buildings and the neighborhoods around them, brought a federal disaster declaration, as did Isaias in 2020, when about 420,000 PSEG Long Island customers lost power. A plant can ride out an outage on generators; its servers and switches still need battery backup and a clean shutdown sequence. We keep the ERP database, engineering files and machine programs in immutable backups with a copy outside the building, and we time a full restore so you know how long recovery takes before you need it. The same design answers ransomware. In the last three years NetSys has worked more than 30 ransomware cases and fully recovered each of them; where a disaster recovery plan already existed, the client was running again within 24 hours. Controller programs and machine configurations are backed up too, because rebuilding them by hand can take longer than restoring a server.

Rules Suffolk manufacturers work under
NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC
Plants that receive controlled unclassified information under Defense Department contracts must put the NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2 security requirements in place. Under the July 13, 2026 suspension, the Department of War set aside, for now, its plan to require third-party Level 2 certification at contract award starting November 10, 2026, and Phases 3 and 4 wait on a reform task force's findings. Still binding: self-assessments at Levels 1 and 2, an SPRS score and affirmation kept up to date, and DFARS 252.204-7012 with its 72-hour cyber incident reporting clock.
FDA electronic records, 21 CFR Part 11
Pharmaceutical, supplement and device makers that keep FDA-required records electronically must meet Part 11's controls for closed systems, among them validation of the system, limiting access to authorized individuals, secure computer-generated and time-stamped audit trails of record changes, and authority checks on who can sign or alter records. Much of that lands on IT: named accounts, permission reviews, protected logs, accurate clocks across servers and backups that include the audit trail itself.
New York SHIELD Act
Section 899-bb of the General Business Law obliges any business holding New York residents' private information to keep reasonable safeguards, and for a manufacturer that means payroll, benefits and personnel files as much as customer data. The statute's examples include naming someone to coordinate the program, identifying foreseeable risks, training staff, assessing risks in network and software design, testing key controls regularly, and catching and answering intrusions. Smaller businesses scale those safeguards to their size rather than skipping them.
Breach notice under section 899-aa
If employee or customer private information is breached, the amended section 899-aa gives a business 30 days from discovery to notify affected New York residents and requires notice to the state's Attorney General, its Department of State and the State Police as well. A plant's incident plan should say who decides whether notice is needed and who sends it, alongside any DFARS report to the Defense Department. This is general information, not legal advice.

Manufacturers in Suffolk County: FAQs
Who provides IT support for manufacturers in Suffolk County?
The NetSys Group supports Suffolk plants from its Park Slope office in Brooklyn. The work covers the help desk for office and floor staff, the ERP's server or cloud environment, CAD stations and engineering file shares, segmented production networks, plant Wi-Fi, managed detection and response and restore-tested backups. Engineers come on site across western Suffolk. NetSys has operated since 1998, its engineers hold degrees in electrical and electronics engineering and computer science, and every agreement is month to month.
Do you provide on-site IT support for manufacturers in Suffolk County?
Yes. Engineers come to plants across western Suffolk, including Hauppauge, Edgewood, Bohemia, Ronkonkoma and Holbrook, for switch and firewall installs, Wi-Fi surveys, server swaps, wiring work alongside your electrician and setups for new workstations, all timed around shifts. Remote support handles most daily issues first. Plants around Yaphank, Medford and Shirley sit 50 to 60 miles from Brooklyn, so each visit there waits on a drive-time check, and the Calverton Enterprise Park and the East End receive remote support.
What does IT support cost for a manufacturer in Suffolk County?
Plants pay per user per month, with the figure set by an assessment rather than a price list. What moves it: the number of office and floor users, shared workstations and scanners, servers and cloud systems, the count of network segments and buildings, and the documentation you owe a defense prime or the FDA. Projects such as an ERP server replacement, a new production cell's network or plant-wide Wi-Fi are quoted on their own once scoped, and the agreement stays month to month.
Do you support our ERP and production software?
We support everything the ERP and production software stand on: the database server or Azure tenant, backups, user accounts and permissions, the network, the workstations and the integrations to shipping and EDI. We work alongside your ERP and equipment vendors and coordinate their upgrades, giving them logged, time-limited access instead of a permanent remote tool. Configuration of the ERP itself stays with the vendor or your administrator; we make sure nothing around it fails when they change it.
How do you help Suffolk defense suppliers with NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC?
We start with a gap analysis against the 800-171 requirements, then build the controls that usually decide an SPRS score: multifactor authentication, a defined boundary around systems holding controlled unclassified information, managed detection and response, audit logging, encrypted laptops, configuration baselines and an incident response plan that meets the DFARS reporting clock. Each control is documented in a system security plan with evidence. While CMMC Phase 2 is suspended, that work keeps your self-assessment honest and ready for whatever certification model follows.
Can you protect CNC machines and controllers that cannot be patched?
Yes, mostly by isolating them. Controllers and machine PCs that cannot run a security agent or take updates go onto their own network segment with an allow-list of the few systems they need, usually a file share for programs and the vendor's support connection. They cannot reach email, the internet or finance, and nothing can reach them except through those rules. Intrusion detection watches the boundary, and machine programs are backed up so a failed or compromised controller can be restored quickly.
