Microsoft 365 Training for Employees

Your staff already have Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook and Excel. Most of them learned by guessing. NetSys teaches the apps your business pays for, live, on your own tenant, by role, so the help desk stops answering the same how-do-I questions.

The short answer

Microsoft 365 training for employees is live, instructor-led practice on the apps your staff already have: Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Excel and the rest. NetSys engineers who are certified Microsoft instructors deliver it as a 4-week program with one session a week, or as a single standalone session, online anywhere in the United States or on-site near New York City.

Who Microsoft 365 training is for

Most businesses on Microsoft 365 use a fraction of it. Files sit in email attachments because nobody trusts SharePoint sharing. Meetings happen in Teams but the chat, the recording and the shared notes go unused. Outlook rules, Excel tables and OneDrive sync are discovered by accident, one person at a time. The subscription is paid for either way; the difference between a team that uses it and a team that works around it is a few hours of structured practice.

NetSys trains end users, power users and administrators separately, because they need different things. An end user needs to find, share and co-edit files without breaking anything. A power user, usually the person who owns a department's site or team, needs lists, metadata, views and the first workflow. An administrator needs the admin centers, the sharing settings and the retention and permission decisions that keep the tenant tidy. Every exercise runs in your own tenant on fictional data written for the session, never on live client or patient records.

Scoped from a skills baseline, not a generic syllabus

Before the first session, we ask each attendee a short set of questions about what they do in Microsoft 365 today and what they avoid. The answers become the baseline: which tasks to skip, which to spend time on, and which role tracks to run. Each session is built around tasks your managers name, practiced in your tenant with fictional data. After the program, a follow-up session takes questions from real use and settles the working practices the team will keep.

What Microsoft 365 training can cover

Microsoft Teams

Chat, channels, meetings and the files behind them.

  • Chats versus channels, mentions, notifications and status
  • Scheduling, running and following up a Teams meeting
  • Where Teams files live and how to share them without duplicating

SharePoint and OneDrive

Store, find, share and co-edit documents without losing track of the current version.

  • OneDrive for personal working files, SharePoint for the team's
  • Sharing links, specific-people access and version history
  • Libraries, columns and views instead of deep folder trees

Outlook and calendar

Mail, calendars and the habits that keep an inbox usable.

  • Rules, categories, search folders and focused inbox decisions
  • Shared mailboxes, shared calendars and room booking
  • Scheduling across time zones and delegate access

Excel, Word and PowerPoint

The Office apps people use daily and the features they never found.

  • Tables, sorting, filtering and the lookups people search for
  • Co-authoring, comments and version history in shared documents
  • Templates and consistent formatting for client-facing files

Planner, Forms, Lists and Loop

The smaller Microsoft 365 apps that replace spreadsheets passed around by email.

  • Task boards in Planner connected to a team
  • Forms that collect requests into a list
  • Loop components and shared notes inside Teams

Administration for the people who run the tenant

A track for admins and the power users who act as admins.

  • Users, licenses, groups and the admin centers
  • Sharing settings, guest access and permission reviews
  • Retention, recovery and where to look when something goes wrong
Why NetSys

Why businesses choose NetSys for Microsoft 365 training

Tell us which apps your team struggles with, how many people need training, whether they are end users, power users or admins, and whether you want a 4-week program or a single session. We will come back with a scope and a proposal.

Who does the work: meet the NetSys team on our About page.

  • Trainers are NetSys engineers who are certified Microsoft and Cisco instructors, and who administer Microsoft 365 tenants every week
  • Exercises run in your own tenant on fictional data, so what people practice is what they will do on Monday
  • Two formats, scoped from a skills baseline, not a fixed syllabus

Which Microsoft 365 training format fits your team?

NetSys offers two formats. Both are live and instructor-led; neither is a recorded course.

FormatBest forHow it runsWhat it leaves behind
4-week programA team adopting Microsoft 365 properly, or a company moving off another platformOne live session a week for four weeks. Each week builds on the last, with practice between sessions in your own tenantA team that has done every core task at least twice, plus the questions and decisions the sessions surfaced
Single standalone sessionOne topic, one team, one problem, such as sharing and permissions, or meetings etiquetteOne live session, scoped to the tasks the manager namesA short list of agreed working practices for that topic

The two most requested topics have their own pages: SharePoint training for end users, power users and admins · Microsoft Teams training for business teams.

Both formats run live online for teams anywhere in the United States, or on-site within about 50 miles of New York City. Fees are quoted in the proposal for the format you choose.

Who attends Microsoft 365 training: end users, power users and admins

The three audiences get different sessions. Mixing them wastes everyone's time: end users sit through admin settings and admins sit through a tour of Outlook.

AudienceWho they usually areWhat their sessions cover
End usersEveryone who uses Microsoft 365 for daily workFinding, sharing and co-editing files, Teams chat and meetings, Outlook habits, the Office apps they use most
Power usersA department's site owner, team owner or the person everyone asksLists, metadata, views, sharing rules, Planner and Forms, the first approval workflow, how to answer the team's questions
AdministratorsThe internal IT person or the office manager who holds the admin roleAdmin centers, licenses and groups, sharing and guest settings, permission reviews, retention and recovery basics

How is a Microsoft 365 training program scoped?

The scope is written before the first session, from four inputs:

  • A skills baseline: a short set of questions to each attendee about what they do in Microsoft 365 today and what they avoid, so sessions spend time where it is needed.
  • Role tracks: end users, power users and administrators are trained separately, with the tasks your managers name as the exercises.
  • Exercises in your own tenant: attendees practice on the real sites, teams and mailboxes they will use, with fictional data written for the session, never on live customer, client or patient records.
  • Follow-up: after the program, a session takes questions from real use and settles the working practices the team keeps, such as where files go and how links are shared.

What attendees keep after each session is agreed in the scope along with the format, the attendee count and whether sessions run online or on-site.

What is not included: AI tools

This training covers the standard Microsoft 365 apps and administration. It does not cover Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or any other AI tool. NetSys teaches those in separate programs, because the data rules, the review habits and the audience are different.

For AI tools, see AI training for employees (ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Claude) · Claude training for employees.

Common Questions

Microsoft 365 Training for Employees FAQs

What does Microsoft 365 training for employees cover?

Anything in the Microsoft 365 environment: Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Planner, Forms, Lists, Loop and the administration behind them. The scope for your team comes from a skills baseline and the tasks your managers name, so a session covers what your people actually need rather than a generic tour of every app.

Is Microsoft 365 training delivered online or on-site?

Both. Sessions run live online for teams anywhere in the United States. Within about 50 miles of New York City, a trainer can deliver the sessions on-site at your office. Online and on-site sessions follow the same scope and the same hands-on exercises.

Who teaches the sessions?

NetSys engineers who are certified Microsoft instructors. They administer Microsoft 365 tenants for business clients every week, so the sessions are taught by people who know what goes wrong in real tenants, not by a presenter reading from slides.

What is the difference between the 4-week program and a single session?

The 4-week program is one live session a week for four weeks, each building on the last, with practice in between. It suits a team adopting Microsoft 365 properly or moving from another platform. A single standalone session covers one topic for one team, such as sharing and permissions. Both are live and hands-on.

Do we need to buy anything before training starts?

No. The training runs in the Microsoft 365 tenant you already pay for, on the apps your licenses include. We prepare fictional data for the exercises inside your tenant before the first session, so nobody practices on live records and nothing extra needs to be bought or installed.

Does the training cover Microsoft 365 Copilot or other AI tools?

No. This is standalone, non-AI Microsoft 365 training. Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT and Claude are taught in separate NetSys programs, AI training for employees and Claude training, because the data rules and review habits for AI tools are their own subject.

How do you decide which topics each person gets?

From a skills baseline. Before the first session, each attendee answers a short set of questions about what they do in Microsoft 365 and what they avoid. The answers sort people into end-user, power-user and admin tracks and tell us which tasks to spend time on.

How much does Microsoft 365 training cost?

NetSys does not publish a fixed price for training. Request a proposal: it states the fee for the format you choose, the 4-week program or a single session, along with the attendee count and whether sessions run online or on-site. The scoping conversation comes first and the proposal follows it.

Can we train only one team, or does it have to be the whole company?

Either. A single team with one problem is the usual reason for a standalone session. A company-wide rollout usually becomes a schedule of role-based sessions by department. The scope says which teams attend which sessions.
