IT Support for Professional Services in San Antonio, TX
San Antonio's consulting, engineering, legal, accounting and government-services firms sell expertise to clients who now audit their suppliers: defense primes around Joint Base San Antonio, hospital systems in the Medical Center, banks and insurers on the Northwest Side. NetSys gives those firms managed IT, security controls they can document and a help desk that answers early, all delivered remotely from Brooklyn.
The short answer
NetSys provides IT support and managed IT for professional services firms in San Antonio, from five-person consultancies to multi-office engineering and accounting practices. The service covers the help desk, ThreatDown managed detection and response, Microsoft 365 with Conditional Access, Intune-managed laptops, tested backups and the evidence clients ask for in security questionnaires and contract flowdowns. It is remote and cloud-based only: NetSys does not send engineers to San Antonio, and laptops ship pre-configured through Windows Autopilot. The help desk is staffed from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central daily, and fees are per user per month after an assessment.

What changes for a professional services firm in San Antonio
Professional services in San Antonio lean toward clients that audit their suppliers. Engineering and environmental consultancies, government-services contractors, law firms, accounting practices and staffing and marketing agencies sell to Joint Base San Antonio and the defense primes around it, to the hospital systems of the Medical Center, and to the banks and insurers with large operations on the Northwest Side. Each of those clients now sends a vendor security questionnaire before signing, and federal work adds DFARS 252.204-7012 to the subcontract. The region's security profile raises expectations further: the Sixteenth Air Force is headquartered at Lackland, Port San Antonio holds more than 80 aerospace, defense and cybersecurity tenants, and the Texas Cyber Command created in June 2025 is based here. A 15-person consultancy competes for work alongside firms with an in-house security team. It also tends to be spread out, with partners near the Pearl, a project office in Stone Oak or by the Port, and staff working from home in Boerne or New Braunfels. Its IT has to work the same way for all of them and produce evidence a client's reviewer will accept.
How support works for a San Antonio firm from 1,600 miles away
NetSys runs the firm's IT from Brooklyn, about 1,600 miles from San Antonio and one hour ahead. Engineers answer the help desk from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central every day, and monitoring and emergency service never close, so a partner preparing for an 8 a.m. client presentation can reach an engineer about a broken laptop at 6. NetSys does not send engineers on site in San Antonio. New laptops are registered in Windows Autopilot and shipped straight to the employee, who signs in and receives Microsoft 365, the time and billing client and the firm's printers automatically. Anything that needs hands, such as replacing a conference-room display or cabling a new suite, goes to a contractor you choose, and our engineer checks the result remotely. Critical issues get a ten-minute phone response and a thirty-minute remote response.
Answering client security questionnaires without guesswork
Clients send standard questionnaires, such as the Shared Assessments SIG or the Cloud Security Alliance CAIQ, or their own spreadsheets with a hundred rows. The same questions recur: multifactor authentication on email and remote access, endpoint detection and response, laptop encryption, backup testing, security awareness training, vendor management, an incident response plan and a named person responsible. We put those controls in place and keep the evidence in IT Glue, so answering means pulling a report rather than guessing: Intune encryption status, ThreatDown coverage, KnowBe4 completion, restore test results and Keeper vault policies. When a client asks for a written policy, we draft the technical sections with you. When a client wants an independent attestation, our SOC 2 readiness work prepares the firm for an outside CPA's audit. The answers stay accurate, because a wrong yes on a questionnaire turns into a contract problem later.
Time and billing, project files and several offices
Professional firms depend on a few systems that cannot fail at month-end: time entry and billing, project accounting or practice management, a document management system or SharePoint, and email. Engineering and environmental consultancies add large drawing and GIS files that must open quickly from any office. We move shared drives to SharePoint and OneDrive, or to Azure Files where an application still needs a mapped drive, and set permissions by client or project so staff see only what their work requires. The billing and project systems are kept patched, backed up and supported by their vendors, with our engineers handling the tickets. Offices and home workers connect through Conditional Access rather than a shared VPN. Teams Phone can replace an aging phone system so the main number rings wherever people are, which matters in a city where a freeze or a flash flood can close an office for a day.
Everything else about how we serve the area, including coverage, how support is delivered and the honest answer about where our office is, lives on our location page for Texas.
Rules that shape IT for San Antonio professional services firms
DFARS 252.204-7012, NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC
Firms that handle controlled unclassified information under a defense contract or subcontract must safeguard it under DFARS 252.204-7012, implement NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2, report cyber incidents within 72 hours and keep a current SPRS score and affirmation. On July 13, 2026 the Department of War suspended CMMC Phase 2, which would have made third-party Level 2 certification a condition of award starting November 10, 2026; a CMMC Reform Task Force is now reviewing it. Level 1 and Level 2 self-assessments remain in force.
Texas Business and Commerce Code chapter 521 and SB 2610
Section 521.052 requires reasonable procedures to protect sensitive personal information, which every firm holds in employee files and client records. When a breach happens, section 521.053 gives the firm 60 days to tell the people affected and 30 days to report to the Attorney General if at least 250 Texans are involved. Senate Bill 2610, effective September 1, 2025, adds a safe harbor: a firm with fewer than 250 employees that maintained a qualifying cybersecurity program cannot be assessed exemplary damages in a breach lawsuit. For firms with 20 to 99 employees, the program must include the CIS Controls Implementation Group 1.
Texas Data Privacy and Security Act
Chapter 541 of the Business and Commerce Code, enforced by the Attorney General, reaches a firm that does business in Texas and processes personal data, although firms within the SBA's small-business size standards are largely outside it. A covered firm needs data security practices, administrative, technical and physical, that are reasonable for the amount and kind of personal data involved. Many professional firms fall under the SBA thresholds and are outside most of the act, so the first step is confirming whether it applies, which your counsel should decide.
Lawyers: technology competence and client confidentiality
On February 26, 2019 the Supreme Court of Texas amended comment 8 to Rule 1.01 of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct so that competence includes understanding the benefits and risks of relevant technology, following the ABA's 2012 change to its Model Rules. Rule 1.05 protects confidential client information, and ABA Model Rule 1.6(c) asks lawyers to make reasonable efforts to prevent its unauthorized disclosure. In practice that means encryption, multifactor sign-in and access limited by matter. This is general information, not legal advice.

Professional Services Firms in San Antonio: FAQs
What does IT support cost for a professional services firm in San Antonio?
It is a per-user monthly fee set after an assessment, and there is no public rate card. For professional firms the figure moves with the number of offices and home workers, servers still running billing or project systems on premises, the compliance evidence clients require, such as NIST SP 800-171 documentation or SOC 2 preparation, and the number of software vendors we coordinate. One-time projects like a SharePoint migration or a phone system replacement are quoted separately. Agreements run month to month, with no long-term contract.
How does IT support work for professional services firms in San Antonio?
Everything is remote and cloud-based. Lawyers, consultants and staff call, email or message our Brooklyn engineers in Teams at any point between 3 a.m. and 10 p.m. Central, any day, and monitoring and emergency service handle the hours in between. Engineers fix problems over remote sessions and manage Microsoft 365, Intune, security and backups from their consoles. NetSys does not send anyone to San Antonio offices, so hardware ships ready to use. Severe problems such as ransomware or email down go straight to your dedicated engineer.
How do you help San Antonio consulting firms answer SIG or CAIQ questionnaires?
We map each question to a control we manage and the evidence that proves it. Multifactor authentication, endpoint detection, encryption, backups, training and access reviews are already in place under the service, and IT Glue holds the reports. Your account manager works through the questionnaire with whoever owns client contracts, our engineers answer the technical rows, and anything that is not true yet becomes a dated task rather than an optimistic answer. Repeat questionnaires get faster because the answers and evidence are kept current.
Do you support Microsoft 365 and project-accounting software for San Antonio firms?
Yes. We administer Microsoft 365 end to end: Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, Entra ID and licensing. For time, billing, project-accounting and document management systems, we keep the servers or cloud connections, workstations, integrations and backups working, and we open and follow tickets with the software vendor when the problem is inside the application. We do not resell or customize those applications, but we schedule and test their updates so a release does not break month-end billing.
Can you support a firm with several San Antonio offices and remote staff?
Yes. Each office gets a Meraki or Fortinet firewall configured from the same standard, so printers, Wi-Fi and security rules behave the same everywhere, and every laptop is managed through Intune whether it sits Downtown, in Stone Oak or at someone's kitchen table in New Braunfels. Files live in SharePoint rather than one office's server, and Teams carries calls between sites. When a new office opens, the network ships configured and your contractor installs it while our engineer verifies each device.
Does a consulting firm working for a defense prime need CMMC now?
It depends on the information it handles. If the firm only processes federal contract information, the CMMC Level 1 self-assessment and the basic safeguards in FAR 52.204-21 apply. If it handles controlled unclassified information, DFARS 252.204-7012 and NIST SP 800-171 apply now, with a self-assessment, an SPRS score and an affirmation, even though CMMC Phase 2 certification was suspended in July 2026. Our CMMC readiness service scopes which category you are in and closes the gaps.
