IT Support in Reston, VA

Reston offices run on people who move between Reston Town Center, home and a customer's building, often on the Silver Line. NetSys gives those staff an engineer-led help desk, laptops that arrive ready to sign in and Microsoft 365 accounts that stay locked down, all supported remotely from our Brooklyn office on month-to-month terms.

The short answer

NetSys provides IT support to Reston, Virginia businesses remotely and through the cloud: a help desk answered by engineers from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern every day, Microsoft 365 and Intune administration, laptop and printer troubleshooting, account setup and removal, and ThreatDown protection on every device. Monitoring and emergency response continue around the clock. We do not send engineers on site in Reston; new laptops ship enrolled in Windows Autopilot, and your staff or cabling contractor connects any network equipment. Support is priced per user per month after a short assessment.

How IT support is delivered in Reston

Every Reston request starts with a call, an email or a Teams message to the help desk, and an engineer works it through a remote session, NinjaOne or the Microsoft 365 admin centers. NetSys has no technicians in Virginia, so nothing in the agreement depends on someone driving to Sunrise Valley Drive. When a laptop fails, a replacement leaves our Brooklyn office already registered in Windows Autopilot and Intune; the user signs in, and their apps, files and settings follow. Printers, docks and conference-room screens are diagnosed with the person sitting in front of them. If a cable or a switch port turns out to be the problem, your office manager or building contractor handles the physical step while our engineer stays on the line. Monitoring runs 24/7 from Brooklyn, and so does emergency service. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. The proposal states severe-incident escalation, authorized remediation and any other after-hours work.

Help for staff who split the week between Reston, home and a customer site

Reston's contractor workforce rarely sits at one desk. Since Silver Line Phase 2 opened on November 15, 2022, with stations at Reston Town Center and Herndon, staff can move between Reston, Tysons, the District and Dulles by rail, and contractor employees often spend days in a government customer's building where personal phones stay in a locker. The help desk is set up for that pattern. Tickets can be opened by email or the portal and answered when the person is reachable, password resets run through self-service with multifactor authentication, and Conditional Access in Entra ID decides which devices reach company data from outside the office. Equipment that belongs to the customer, such as a workstation inside its facility, stays the customer's responsibility. The agreement lists which devices and accounts are yours, so nobody waits on the wrong team.

Onboarding and offboarding when a contract starts or ends

Reston firms hire in waves. A recompete win can mean a dozen new badges in two weeks, and a lost task order can mean as many departures on one Friday. NetSys builds a standard joiner checklist with you: the Microsoft 365 license, security groups, shared mailboxes, Keeper vault access, a laptop shipped to the new hire's home and KnowBe4 training assigned in the first week. Leavers get the reverse on the day HR tells us: sign-in blocked, sessions revoked, mailbox converted or delegated, the device wiped through Intune and a prepaid return label sent for the hardware. Every change is logged in IT Glue, which gives you a record to show a prime contractor or an auditor who asks how access is removed when someone rolls off a program.

Windows 11, Microsoft 365 and the everyday fixes

Most help desk work in a Reston office is ordinary, and it should be fast. Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, so a machine still running it is now a security exception rather than an inconvenience; we inventory those through NinjaOne, upgrade the hardware that can run Windows 11 and price replacements for the rest. Day to day, engineers fix Outlook profiles, OneDrive sync conflicts, Teams audio, VPN and Conditional Access prompts, scanners and label printers, and they patch every managed device on a schedule you approve. Calls about the internet connection go to the carrier with our diagnostics attached. Comcast holds the cable franchise for the Reston area and Verizon a countywide one, so Comcast Business and Verizon Fios are the options to check at your address, with Lumen for a dedicated circuit.

Your first 30 days of IT support in Reston

Week one is discovery. An engineer meets whoever handles IT today over video, installs the NinjaOne agent on every computer and reads the Microsoft 365 tenant, the firewall and the backup jobs, then sends a written list of what is out of date or exposed. Week two is the cutover: the help desk phone number, email address and Teams channel go live, old remote-access tools are removed, and ThreatDown replaces whatever endpoint protection was there. Weeks three and four close the gaps found in discovery, usually multifactor authentication on every account, shared passwords moved into Keeper and stale accounts disabled. By day 30 your staff know one number to call, and you hold documentation in IT Glue that describes every device, license and vendor.

Firewall, antivirus and maintenance for a five-person office

Not every engagement is a transformation. A five-person office ran on the router the internet provider supplied, whatever antivirus came with the laptops and updates that happened when someone remembered. NetSys replaced the router with a business-grade firewall configured with sensible rules, secure remote access and logging, deployed managed antivirus on every machine with updates and alerts handled centrally, and put patching, backup checks and health reviews on a schedule. The agreement covers what a five-person office needs and nothing it does not, month to month. No outcome figures were measured for publication.

What IT support costs in Reston

IT support is priced per user per month, and the number moves with whether after-hours coverage goes beyond monitoring, how many servers and specialized applications are in scope, and whether security tooling is already licensed or comes from us. Per-device pricing suits crews that share hardware. We quote from a short assessment, and the agreement runs month to month. Our managed IT pricing page sets out what sits inside the fee.

How the monthly fee is built

Who this fits, and who it does not

Best fit: 5 to 75 employees, mostly on Microsoft 365, with staff who need someone to call and nobody on payroll whose job is IT, or one person who needs a bench behind them.

Common Questions

IT Support in Reston: FAQs

How does IT support work for Reston organizations?

It is remote and cloud-based. Your staff reach engineers by phone, email or Teams, seven days a week from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern, and the help desk works the issue over a remote session. Monitoring and emergency response run 24/7, and ransomware, a down system, a lost internet connection or broken email go straight to your dedicated engineer. NetSys keeps no technicians in Reston. Replacement laptops ship pre-configured through Windows Autopilot, and any equipment that has to be plugged in is connected by your staff or your own contractor while we guide the work.

How fast does the help desk respond to an office in Reston?

The response commitments are written into the agreement. A critical issue gets a phone response within ten minutes and a remote session within thirty. A standard request gets a phone response within thirty minutes and remote work within an hour. Engineers staff the help desk from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern, seven days a week, and monitoring alerts and emergencies reach an engineer at any hour. Because the desk opens at 4 a.m., a Reston contractor whose staff start early for a customer meeting can reach a person well before the workday begins.

How much does IT support cost in Reston?

NetSys does not publish a price, because the number depends on what is in scope. IT support is priced per user per month after a short assessment. What moves it: how many devices each person carries, whether you run servers or only Microsoft 365, specialized applications such as a project-accounting system built for government contracts, and how much documentation a prime contractor or auditor expects. Hardware, licenses and projects such as a Windows 11 refresh are quoted separately. Agreements run month to month with no long-term contract, and the managed IT pricing page explains what sits inside the fee.

Can you support our people when they work at a government customer's facility?

Yes, for the devices and accounts your company owns. If an employee carries a company laptop between Reston and a customer building, we manage it through Intune, keep it patched and protected by ThreatDown, and control its access to Microsoft 365 with Conditional Access. Where phones are not allowed inside, staff can open a ticket by email from a permitted workstation or call once they leave. Systems that belong to the government customer, including its network and any classified equipment, are outside our scope and stay with the customer's own IT staff.

Which Virginia rules affect IT support for a Reston company?

Virginia Code § 18.2-186.6 requires the owner or licensee of computerized personal information to notify the Office of the Attorney General and affected residents without unreasonable delay after a breach, and to tell the consumer reporting agencies when more than 1,000 people are notified at once. Employers also owe the Attorney General notice when employee tax ID numbers and withholding data are exposed. Defense subcontractors under DFARS 252.204-7012 must report cyber incidents to DoD within 72 hours. Help desk logs and IT Glue records are part of the evidence either duty needs. This is general information, not legal advice.
