Managed IT Services in Frederick, MD
Frederick has grown into a research and biomanufacturing city around Fort Detrick while keeping a downtown full of small firms along Market Street and Carroll Creek. NetSys is a managed service provider that runs the whole IT environment for Frederick organizations: computers, Microsoft 365, security, backups and every technology vendor, handled remotely from Brooklyn on month-to-month terms.
The short answer
NetSys provides managed IT services to Frederick, Maryland organizations for a monthly fee per user. The plan covers a help desk staffed by engineers, 24/7 monitoring, patching, ThreatDown managed detection and response, Microsoft 365 and Intune administration, Datto or Veeam backups with restore tests, and management of your carriers and software vendors. Support is remote and cloud-based only: NetSys keeps no technicians in Frederick, laptops arrive enrolled in Windows Autopilot, and your staff or cabling contractor connects other equipment while an engineer confirms it. Pricing follows an assessment, and agreements run month to month.

How managed IT is delivered in Frederick
Every Frederick account is run from our Brooklyn office over the network. The NinjaOne agent on each computer, administrator access to your Microsoft 365 tenant and the cloud console of a Meraki or Fortinet firewall give engineers what they need to patch, troubleshoot and change settings without traveling, and NetSys does not send engineers to Frederick for any task. Physical work is planned so nobody waits for a truck: replacement laptops are registered in Windows Autopilot and shipped to the office or to an employee's home in Urbana, Walkersville or Middletown, firewalls and access points arrive preconfigured, and your office manager or cabling contractor makes the connections with an engineer on the phone. Ransomware, a server that will not start, a dead internet circuit or email that stops flowing goes straight to the dedicated engineer who already knows your setup. Monitoring runs 24/7 from Brooklyn, and so does emergency service. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. The proposal states severe-incident escalation, authorized remediation and any other after-hours work.
Carriers, contracts and the other vendors we manage
A managed IT agreement should take every technology vendor off your desk, not only the computers. Most Frederick offices juggle an internet circuit, a phone system, a copier lease, one or two line-of-business applications and a stack of cloud subscriptions, each with its own support number and renewal date. We record those contacts, contracts and dates in IT Glue, open the tickets and stay on the call until the problem is closed. Internet choice changes from block to block here. Comcast's cable network reaches nearly every Frederick address, Shentel's Glo Fiber picked Frederick as its first Maryland market in 2021 and signed a 2024 county franchise to reach more than 40,000 homes and businesses, and Verizon Fios fiber covers only part of the city. We check what is actually available at your address and pair the main circuit with a 5G backup.
Fort Detrick, the research parks and the companies around them
The Frederick County Office of Economic Development counts the Fort Detrick campus, with its Army medical research commands, National Cancer Institute site and dozens of other tenants, as the county's largest employer at 10,347 people, ahead of the public schools and Frederick Health. Leidos Biomedical Research, which operates the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, employs 2,440, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, AstraZeneca, Lonza and Kite each employ several hundred more. Legal & General America keeps its life insurance headquarters here, and builders, contractors and manufacturers such as STULZ Air Technology Systems fill the parks along Route 85 and in Urbana. We name them only as context; none is a NetSys client. The smaller firms that supply them are the ones that hire a managed provider: contract labs with research data on file shares and in an electronic lab notebook, engineering and staffing companies holding a prime contractor's controlled information, and insurance and mortgage offices with customer files under Maryland's data-security law.
Flood control, a 2018 disaster and a hospital ransomware attack
Downtown Frederick sits on a floodplain the city engineered its way out of. After the October 1976 flood, the city, county and state paid for a roughly $60 million system of four 20-foot conduits beneath Carroll Creek, which now carry storm water under the linear park. Heavy rain still finds other routes: flooding from May 15 to 19, 2018 brought a federal disaster declaration, DR-4374, for Frederick and Washington counties. The sharper lesson came in 2025. On January 27, Frederick Health detected ransomware after an intruder copied files from a file share server, and the health system later reported 934,326 affected people to federal regulators. For a Frederick business the plan follows from both events: battery backup sized to shut equipment down cleanly, files in SharePoint and OneDrive so people can work from home, multifactor sign-in on every account and immutable backups stored outside the region and restored on a schedule.
Your first 30 days of managed IT in Frederick
Week one is discovery. An engineer interviews whoever looks after IT today, installs the NinjaOne agent on each computer and reads the Microsoft 365 tenant, the firewall and the backup jobs, then sends a written list of what is exposed or out of date. Windows 10 lost support on October 14, 2025, and Windows Server 2016 extended support ends January 12, 2027, so any machine on either goes on that list with a replacement price. Week two is the cutover: staff get one phone number, one email address and one Teams channel for help, ThreatDown replaces the old antivirus and leftover remote-access tools are removed. Weeks three and four close the gaps, with multifactor sign-in everywhere, shared passwords moved into Keeper, stale accounts disabled and the first restore test logged. By day 30 you hold IT Glue documentation of every device, license and vendor, and it belongs to you.

Complete managed IT, cybersecurity and help desk for a 20-seat organization
A 20-seat organization handed NetSys the whole of its IT. Devices, network, Microsoft 365 and vendors came under one agreement with 24/7 monitoring and a named account manager; endpoint protection, multifactor authentication, email protection and tested backups went onto all twenty seats; staff got a help desk with engineers on the other end; and every new hire now goes through a defined onboarding process with recurring phishing training. The write-up is limited to the scope delivered, with no outcome figures claimed.

What managed IT costs in Frederick
Managed IT is priced per user per month for a fully managed agreement, and the number moves with four things more than with headcount: how many servers you run, whether you need after-hours coverage beyond monitoring, how much compliance documentation you carry, and whether we are co-managing alongside an internal person or running everything. We quote from an assessment, not a phone call, and the agreement runs month to month. What belongs in the monthly fee versus what is billed separately is set out on our managed IT pricing page.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: 10 to 75 employees, one or two offices plus remote staff, already on Microsoft 365 or ready to move there, and either no internal IT or one person who is underwater.

Managed IT Services in Frederick: FAQs
How does managed IT work for Frederick organizations?
It runs remotely and in the cloud. Staff call, email or message the help desk in Teams, and an engineer works the problem over a remote session. Monitoring and emergency service run 24/7; the help desk is staffed seven days a week from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time. Written response commitments apply: ten minutes by phone and thirty minutes remotely for critical issues, thirty minutes and one hour for standard ones. NetSys keeps no technicians in Frederick; hardware ships ready to use, and a local contractor handles any cabling.
How much do managed IT services cost in Frederick, MD?
NetSys does not publish a price, because the figure depends on what we manage. Managed IT is priced per user per month after an assessment. Headcount matters, but these move the number more: servers kept in the office rather than in Azure, lab or production systems that need change records, documentation a prime contractor or insurer expects, the number of sites and whether an in-house IT person keeps part of the work. Hardware, licenses and projects such as a Windows 11 refresh are quoted separately. The agreement runs month to month, with no long-term contract.
What is included in a managed IT plan for a Frederick business?
The plan covers the help desk, monitoring and patching through NinjaOne, ThreatDown managed detection and response, Microsoft Defender for Business, Microsoft 365 and Intune administration, Barracuda email protection, KnowBe4 phishing training, Keeper password management and Datto or Veeam backups with scheduled restore tests. It also covers onboarding and offboarding, firewall and Wi-Fi management, documentation in IT Glue and the calls to your carrier and software vendors. A dedicated account manager with a real cell number reviews hardware age, renewals and projects with you each quarter.
Can you support a Frederick contractor that works on Fort Detrick programs?
Yes, for the systems your company owns. Contractors handling controlled unclassified information still owe NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2 controls, a current SPRS score and affirmation, and the 72-hour incident report under DFARS 252.204-7012. On July 13, 2026 the Department of War suspended CMMC Phase 2, the third-party Level 2 certification that was due to start November 10, 2026, and a reform task force is reviewing the program, but Level 1 and Level 2 self-assessments remain in force. We implement and document the controls; we are not a certification body. Government networks and equipment stay with the agency.
Which Maryland laws affect a Frederick company's IT?
Two matter most. The Personal Information Protection Act requires reasonable security procedures suited to the data you hold (Com. Law § 14-3503) and, after a breach, a prompt investigation, notice to the Attorney General before affected residents and resident notice within 45 days of discovery (§ 14-3504). The Maryland Online Data Privacy Act, in effect since October 1, 2025, adds duties for organizations handling personal data of at least 35,000 Maryland consumers a year, or 10,000 if data sales bring in more than 20 percent of revenue. This is general information, not legal advice.
