Healthcare IT Support in Jericho, NY
For medical groups, specialty networks and health organizations that run several Nassau and Suffolk locations from a Jericho headquarters or billing office. NetSys builds and runs the HIPAA security program for the whole organization, the network that ties every site to the EHR, and the backups that keep clinicians working when a system, a vendor or a building goes down.
The short answer
NetSys provides healthcare IT support to Jericho medical groups and multi-site practices: a HIPAA Security Rule risk analysis across every location, the safeguards it calls for, encrypted links between sites, Microsoft 365 with multifactor sign-in, ThreatDown detection and response watched 24/7, and backups proven by restore tests. Jericho is inside our on-site coverage, about 50 minutes from our Park Slope office, so engineers handle network and hardware work at each site while the help desk, staffed 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern every day, resolves most problems remotely. Pricing is per user per month after an assessment.

What changes for a healthcare organization run from Jericho
Jericho sits in the middle of Nassau's hospital map. Northwell Health's Syosset Hospital is a few minutes east at 221 Jericho Turnpike, its Plainview Hospital is on Old Country Road in Plainview, and NYU Langone Hospital, Long Island, the former Winthrop, is in Mineola to the west. Groups that grow from a Jericho base rarely stay in one building. They often keep administration or central billing in a corridor complex, run clinical sites across Nassau and western Suffolk, and have staff who move between them. The owner of the Jericho Quadrangle describes itself as a developer of office and medical buildings, and the corridor mixes clinical suites with administrative floors. That shape decides the IT. The organization needs one identity system and one EHR reached from every site, a network that keeps each location working when its circuit fails, identical builds in every exam room, and a single HIPAA program instead of one per office. Patient data also flows to hospitals and through Healthix, the health information exchange for New York City and Long Island, which reports data from more than 9,000 facilities, so every interface and service account needs a named owner.
On-site and remote support across every location
Clinical staff call with problems that cannot wait for tomorrow: a physician who cannot sign in at 7:40 with patients already checked in, an e-fax queue that stopped filing referrals, a satellite office whose VPN tunnel dropped overnight. Our help desk engineers take those calls from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern every day, and most are solved remotely during the conversation. Jericho, the rest of Nassau and western Suffolk are inside our on-site coverage, so when a job needs hands an engineer travels from Park Slope to the site in question: a closet switch at one office, new drops for an added exam room at another, a firewall replacement, or setup for a location about to open. We hold every site to one standard, with the same firewall, Wi-Fi design and workstation image recorded in IT Glue, so a problem solved once is solved everywhere.
One HIPAA security program for the whole organization
A group operating as one covered entity needs one program. We begin with the risk analysis the Security Rule requires, covering every location, every system that creates, stores or transmits electronic protected health information, and every vendor with access. The analysis produces a remediation plan with owners and dates: multifactor sign-in and Conditional Access for all staff, ThreatDown on every endpoint, encrypted laptops, role-based access so schedulers do not see what clinicians see, and audit logs kept where an investigator can use them. Vendors deserve the same scrutiny. In 2023 an intruder copied files from Perry Johnson & Associates, a medical transcription company, and records of millions of Northwell Health patients were among them, even though Northwell's own systems were not touched. So we keep the business associate inventory current, review each vendor's access, and refresh the analysis every year and after any major change.
Continuity when the EHR, a clearinghouse or a site is unavailable
The February 2024 attack on Change Healthcare showed how far one outage can travel: claims and payment services that hospitals and medical groups across the country relied on stayed down for weeks, and UnitedHealth later put the number of people whose data was affected at about 190 million. Planning has to cover two failures, your own systems and a partner you cannot work without. The Security Rule's contingency plan standard requires a data backup plan, a disaster recovery plan and an emergency mode operation plan. In practice that means Datto or Veeam backups of the servers and Microsoft 365 with one copy that cannot be altered, restore tests every quarter, a written order for bringing back the EHR, phones and scheduling, paper downtime kits at every location, a second clearinghouse identified in advance, and a cellular line so a site can reach the EHR when its main internet service is out.

Rules Jericho healthcare organizations work under
HIPAA Security Rule (45 CFR Part 164, Subpart C)
The Security Rule obliges covered entities and their business associates to assess risks to electronic protected health information accurately and thoroughly, then manage those risks with administrative, physical and technical safeguards set out in 45 CFR 164.308 to 164.316. Its contingency standard calls for a data backup plan, a disaster recovery plan and an emergency mode operation plan. A proposed overhaul of the rule, published by HHS on January 6, 2025, has not been finalized, so its draft requirements are not current law.
HIPAA breach notice and New York's five-business-day rule
Under 45 CFR 164.404, patients must be told about a breach of unsecured protected health information without unreasonable delay and no later than 60 calendar days after discovery. New York adds a step in General Business Law 899-aa: a covered entity that reports a breach to the HHS Secretary must also notify the state Attorney General within five business days of that report. The state statute also counts medical information and health insurance information as private information.
New York's hospital cybersecurity rule (10 NYCRR 405.46)
The Department of Health's cybersecurity regulation for general hospitals licensed under Article 28 of the Public Health Law took effect on October 2, 2024. Its incident reporting duty applied at once, requiring a qualifying cybersecurity incident to be reported to the Department within 72 hours of determining it occurred, and most other controls were due a year later. The rule binds hospitals rather than physician groups, but it asks hospitals to assess the security of their vendors and partners, so groups that connect to hospital systems should expect security questionnaires built on it. We prepare the answers and the evidence behind them.
SHIELD Act duties for staff and business records
General Business Law 899-bb requires reasonable safeguards for New Yorkers' private information and treats an organization in compliance with HIPAA as a compliant regulated entity. Records outside the medical chart, such as employee files with Social Security numbers and payroll bank details, still need protecting, and a breach of that data falls under the state's 30-day notice requirement. Healthcare Organizations in Jericho: FAQs
Who provides healthcare IT support in Jericho?
NetSys supports Jericho medical groups and multi-site practices from our Park Slope, Brooklyn office, with engineers on site across Nassau and western Suffolk. We have run IT for New York organizations since 1998, and work that touches protected health information follows the HIPAA program described on this page. One agreement covers the help desk, every location's network and devices, Microsoft 365, ThreatDown, backups and the vendor calls to your EHR, phone and imaging providers, on month-to-month terms with 98% client retention.
Do you provide on-site IT support in Jericho?
Yes. Jericho and every other site a group runs in Nassau or western Suffolk are inside our on-site coverage. Engineers come out for network closets, firewall and switch replacements, new exam room drops and the setup of a new location, and they schedule around clinic hours whenever possible. The help desk resolves most problems remotely first. A group with an office farther east should know that we confirm drive time before visits near Patchogue or Port Jefferson and support the East End remotely.
How do you run a HIPAA risk analysis for a group with several locations?
As one analysis, not one per office. We inventory every site's devices, applications, network connections and vendors, interview the people who run each location, and trace where electronic protected health information is created, stored and sent, including to hospitals and the health information exchange. Each risk gets a likelihood, an impact and an owner. The result is a single remediation plan with dates, a policy set that applies to every site, and evidence your compliance officer can show an auditor or a payer. We update it yearly and whenever a location opens.
Do you support our EHR and practice-management system?
We support everything the EHR depends on and work alongside the vendor, which supports the application itself. That includes the server or cloud connection, the workstations and their drivers, user accounts and role-based permissions, interfaces to labs and imaging centers, scanners, label printers and e-fax, and the backups. When the vendor schedules an upgrade, we test it at one site before it reaches the others, and when something breaks, we open the vendor ticket and stay on it until clinicians can work again.
What does healthcare IT support cost for a Jericho medical group?
Pricing is per user per month, set after an assessment. For a group, the main drivers are the number of staff and shared clinical workstations, how many locations are connected, any servers still on site, imaging or lab interfaces, and the depth of HIPAA documentation and audit support you need. A new site build, a server replacement or an EHR migration is quoted separately after scoping. Agreements run month to month, so there is no long-term contract to unwind.
Can you connect a new location to our network before it opens?
Yes, and that is the best time to do it. We order the circuit and a backup line early, because carrier installation dates set the schedule, then install the same firewall, switches and Wi-Fi design your other sites use and build an encrypted tunnel back to the main office. Workstations arrive enrolled through Windows Autopilot, printers and scanners are tested against the EHR, and the location is added to monitoring and to the HIPAA inventory before the first patient walks in.
