Cybersecurity Services in Jacksonville, FL

Jacksonville runs on banks, insurers, the port, the Navy and large hospital systems, and the smaller companies that serve them are where attackers look first. NetSys provides managed cybersecurity to Jacksonville businesses remotely: detection and response on every device, identity and email controls, vulnerability scanning, staff training and an incident plan that has actually been rehearsed.

The short answer

Jacksonville companies get managed cybersecurity from NetSys as a remote service. We put ThreatDown detection and response and Microsoft Defender for Business on each laptop and server, require multifactor sign-in through Entra ID Conditional Access, filter mail with Barracuda, scan for vulnerabilities with Rapid7 InsightVM, train staff with KnowBe4 and keep immutable backups that we prove by restoring. NetSys does not send engineers on site in Jacksonville. Detection and emergency response run 24/7, the help desk is staffed 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern daily, and security is priced per user per month after an assessment.

How cybersecurity is delivered for Jacksonville organizations

The security service is built so that nothing depends on a person in the building. ThreatDown's security operations team watches endpoint detections at all hours and can isolate an infected laptop from the network through the console; NetSys engineers then work out what ran, which account it used and what has to be reset, and talk you through it. Identity controls live in your Microsoft 365 tenant, so multifactor authentication, blocked legacy sign-ins and Conditional Access rules are configured remotely. Rapid7 InsightVM scans run on a schedule through a lightweight agent, and the findings become patch tickets rather than a report nobody reads. When a firewall needs replacing, it ships with its policy loaded and your contractor racks it. NetSys does not send engineers to Jacksonville, so the incident plan is written for remote response from the first minute. Monitoring runs 24/7 from Brooklyn, and so does emergency service. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. The proposal states severe-incident escalation, authorized remediation and any other after-hours work.

What the Jacksonville Beach attack showed

Between January 22 and 29, 2024, an intruder took files from the City of Jacksonville Beach, which kept its own government when Jacksonville consolidated with Duval County in 1968. The LockBit ransomware group claimed the attack and posted stolen data, and the city later reported that personal information, including Social Security numbers, of nearly 49,000 people was involved. City email was out for days, and utility payments had to be taken at the counter. Florida has barred counties and municipalities from paying ransoms since 2022 (section 282.3186 of the Florida Statutes), and the city reportedly did not pay. A private company is not covered by that ban, but the lesson carries over: plan to recover without paying. That means backups an attacker cannot delete, a recovery order for each system and someone who has rehearsed the first hour.

Selling to Jacksonville's banks, insurers and fintech firms

JAXUSA Partnership counts more than 53,000 financial services professionals in the region, four Fortune 500 headquarters (FIS, Fidelity National Financial, CSX and GuideWell) and major operations for Deutsche Bank, Citi, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. For a 30-person software shop, staffing agency, marketing firm or claims vendor on the Southside, those institutions are the customers, and they send vendor security questionnaires before renewing a contract. The questions repeat: multifactor authentication on every account, endpoint detection with human review, encrypted laptops, immutable backups, annual penetration testing, phishing training, a written incident response plan and a named security contact. We put those controls in place and store the evidence in IT Glue, so answering means exporting a report: ThreatDown coverage, Intune encryption status, KnowBe4 completion rates, restore test results and Rapid7 scan history.

Port, freight and defense suppliers

JAXPORT handled 1,388,841 container units (TEUs) and 506,237 vehicles in fiscal 2025, and the freight forwarders, customs brokers, trucking firms and warehouses around Blount Island, Dames Point and Talleyrand move money and shipment data by email all day. Payment-diversion fraud and hijacked mailboxes are their main threats, so mail filtering, DMARC and callback rules for changed bank details come first. Terminal operators regulated under the Maritime Transportation Security Act have a separate federal rule: the Coast Guard's cybersecurity rule for the marine transportation system took effect July 16, 2025, and reportable cyber incidents now go to the National Response Center. Defense suppliers near NAS Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport should know that CMMC Phase 2 certification was suspended on July 13, 2026, while self-assessments, DFARS 252.204-7012, NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2 and a current SPRS score still apply.

Medical practices around Mayo, Baptist and UF Health

Mayo Clinic's Jacksonville campus is one of its three major campuses, and Baptist Health and UF Health Jacksonville anchor much of the rest of the city's hospital care. The specialty practices, imaging centers, physical therapy clinics and billing companies that refer patients to those systems or work alongside them are covered by the HIPAA Security Rule, which requires a documented risk analysis and safeguards for electronic patient information. HHS proposed an update to that rule in January 2025, but it is still a proposal, so the current rule is what an auditor applies. Our healthcare security work goes after the practical gaps that show up in small practices: shared front-desk logins, unmanaged phones holding patient photos, faxes forwarded into personal inboxes and backups nobody has restored. We write the risk analysis from what we find and update it as the practice changes.

Law office: layered security on Microsoft 365 with cloud-to-cloud backup

A 25-attorney firm needed client confidences protected better than a closet server could manage. Alongside a Microsoft 365 migration, NetSys layered anti-phishing and email threat protection, DNS filtering, multifactor authentication on every account and endpoint protection across attorney devices in the office and remote, and established independent cloud-to-cloud backup of the entire tenant because the recycle bin is not a backup strategy for privileged material. The firm reported 82% fewer IT support incidents per month within two quarters.

What cybersecurity costs in Jacksonville

Cybersecurity is priced per user per month when it runs as an ongoing service, and per project for an assessment or a remediation. What moves the number: how many devices and identities are in scope, how much incident remediation and recovery is needed beyond the monitoring and authorized MDR actions in scope, which compliance standard the evidence has to satisfy, and whether the Microsoft 365 tenant is already on Business Premium or the security tooling comes from us. The free external penetration test costs nothing and runs remotely before any of that. Our managed IT pricing page explains how the fee is built.

How the monthly fee is built

Who this fits, and who it does not

Best fit: businesses with enough people, money movement or regulated data that a breach would hurt, and no security team of their own: professional practices, healthcare groups, importers, financial firms, nonprofits and agencies holding client credentials. Companies with an internal IT person fit as a co-managed arrangement.

Common Questions

Cybersecurity in Jacksonville: FAQs

How does cybersecurity work for Jacksonville organizations?

Everything is delivered over the network from Brooklyn. Agents on each laptop and server stream detections to ThreatDown's analysts, who can cut a device off the network at any hour; our engineers then clean it up, reset the accounts involved and explain what happened. Sign-in and email protections are configured in your Microsoft 365 tenant, scans run on a set schedule, and restore tests prove the backups. Staff call the help desk between 4 a.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern, and a suspected breach reaches your dedicated engineer immediately, day or night. NetSys does not send engineers on site in Florida.

How much do cybersecurity services cost in Jacksonville, FL?

Security is priced per user per month, either inside a managed IT agreement or as a standalone service, and the figure is set after an assessment. What moves it: the number of users and servers, whether you need email security and training as well as endpoint protection, how much compliance evidence your customers or regulators expect, and whether you want vulnerability scanning of every device or only internet-facing systems. Incident response beyond the agreement, penetration tests and projects such as a firewall replacement are quoted separately. Agreements run month to month.

Which cybersecurity requirements apply to businesses in Jacksonville, FL?

Every business holding Floridians' personal information falls under section 501.171 of the Florida Statutes, which requires reasonable security measures and notice to affected people within 30 days of determining a breach. A vendor that stores or processes that data for you must tell you within 10 days of determining a breach. Industry rules sit on top: HIPAA for medical practices, the FTC Safeguards Rule for mortgage brokers, tax preparers and other non-bank financial firms, DFARS and NIST SP 800-171 for defense suppliers, and the Coast Guard rule for regulated port facilities. This is general information, not legal advice.

Do you offer cybersecurity consulting as well as managed security?

Yes. Some Jacksonville companies need a plan before a service: a security assessment that maps current controls against the NIST Cybersecurity Framework or a customer's questionnaire, a written incident response plan with a tabletop exercise, a virtual CISO who reports to leadership each quarter, or a gap assessment against NIST SP 800-171 for defense work. Consulting is quoted as fixed-scope work and delivered remotely, and its findings feed straight into the managed service if you decide to continue with us.

What is included in the free external penetration test?

It is a remote test of your internet-facing systems, within a scope we agree in writing before anything starts, such as your public IP addresses, firewall and VPN, and the email and web services exposed to the internet. You receive a written report of what was found, ranked by severity, and we review it with you on a call. It is the only free offer NetSys makes, there is no obligation afterward, and it does not touch internal systems or anything outside the agreed scope.

What happens if a Jacksonville business is hit by ransomware?

Call your dedicated engineer, who takes the case immediately. We isolate infected devices, preserve evidence for your insurer and any investigator, find how the attacker got in and restore from backups the attacker could not reach. In the past three years NetSys has handled more than 30 ransomware incidents, and every one was fully recovered; clients with a disaster recovery plan in place were back within 24 hours. Florida's 30-day notice period runs from when a breach is determined or reasonably suspected, so bring your attorney in early.

Start with the free test

See what an attacker sees before they do.

The free assessment is a remote external penetration test, limited to the information available to NetSys and the external scope we agree with you. Internal reviews and ongoing security management are scoped separately.
