Cybersecurity Services at the Jersey Shore
Shore businesses run on deposits, closings, patient records and card payments, and attackers know it. NetSys protects offices from the Bayshore to Point Pleasant with managed detection and response, email defense, identity controls and tested backups, watched around the clock from Brooklyn, with engineers who come to the office to install hardware and respond in person.
The short answer
NetSys provides cybersecurity services at the Jersey Shore: managed detection and response on every device, email security, multifactor sign-in with Conditional Access, vulnerability scanning, phishing training, firewall management and incident response. Monitoring runs 24/7. Every Monmouth County office and those in northern Ocean County get on-site help when needed, such as firewall installs and incident response; Toms River sits 50 to 60 miles away, so a visit there waits until the drive time is confirmed, and Long Beach Island is served remotely. Fees are per user per month, worked out after we assess your setup.

How cybersecurity is delivered at the Jersey Shore
Detection and response run remotely. ThreatDown's managed detection and response team and our engineers watch the alerts from every laptop and server, and a confirmed threat gets the device isolated and the account locked within minutes, wherever the office is. Hands-on work happens in person inside our coverage: installing and configuring a Fortinet or Meraki firewall, separating the guest Wi-Fi from the office network, pulling a compromised machine during an incident, or walking a staff meeting through what changed. An engineer reaches Red Bank in about an hour from Park Slope and Brick or Lakewood in about an hour and a half. South of Toms River we confirm the drive before booking, and on Long Beach Island firewalls ship pre-configured for a local contractor to connect. Monitoring runs 24/7 from Brooklyn, and so does emergency service. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. The proposal states severe-incident escalation, authorized remediation and any other after-hours work.
The attacks shore businesses actually face
The most common attack here is not exotic. It is an email that looks like it came from a title company, a rental guest, a vendor or a patient, asking for a changed wire, a gift card or a login. Real estate closings and summer rental deposits move large sums on short notice, which makes brokers, attorneys and rental managers prime targets for wire fraud. Seasonal hires who started last week click more often than staff who have been through training. Guest Wi-Fi in restaurants, hotels and marinas gives attackers a way in when it shares a network with the office. Hospitals nearby have been hit as well. When CentraState's systems failed in a December 2022 cyberattack, the Freehold Township hospital diverted ambulances, and roughly 617,000 patients later received breach letters.
The controls we put in place, and why each one
Each control answers a specific way in. Multifactor authentication with Entra ID Conditional Access keeps a stolen password from working on an unfamiliar device or from an unexpected country. Barracuda Email Protection and DMARC on your domain cut down the spoofed messages that start most wire-fraud attempts; DMARC reduces spoofing rather than ending it, so we also set a call-back rule for any change to payment instructions. Defender for Business and ThreatDown on every endpoint catch ransomware behavior, not just known files. Rapid7 InsightVM scans find the unpatched firewall or old VPN before an attacker does. KnowBe4 gives staff short training and simulated phishing, timed for the start of each summer hiring wave. Keeper replaces passwords kept in spreadsheets, and Datto SIRIS or Veeam backups are stored where ransomware cannot reach them, with restores tested.
Practices tied to the shore hospital systems
Medical and dental offices along the coast share patients, referrals and results with Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, Ocean University Medical Center in Brick and CentraState in Freehold Township. That means hospital portals, e-prescribing, faxes that arrive as email and imaging files moving between systems, each one a place patient data can leak. We start with the HIPAA Security Rule's required risk analysis, then fix what it finds: encryption on every laptop, multifactor on the EHR and email, audit logging, a business associate agreement with every vendor that touches records, and backups that restore. The HHS proposal published in January 2025 to update the Security Rule is still a proposal, so we build to the current rule and track the rulemaking.
When something gets through
Controls lower the odds; they do not make an incident impossible. When one happens, the first hour matters most. Our engineers isolate affected machines, disable compromised accounts, preserve logs and disk images for the investigation, and work out what data was touched. NetSys has worked more than 30 ransomware cases in three years and brought every one to full recovery; where a client already had a disaster recovery plan, it was operating again inside a day. New Jersey law adds a step that surprises people: a business that has to notify customers about a breach must report it to the Division of State Police first. We gather the facts your attorney and insurer need for those decisions, and the notification calls stay with you and your counsel.
Cybersecurity on the Jersey Shore: what NetSys delivers
Detection and response
- ThreatDown managed detection and response with EDR agents on every workstation, laptop and server, monitored 24/7
- Microsoft Defender for Business and Rapid7 InsightIDR telemetry from identities, email and endpoints, with a person acting on alerts
Identity and email
- Entra ID Conditional Access and multifactor authentication across Microsoft 365, with legacy authentication switched off
- Privileged access and privileged identity management so admin rights are granted just in time and removed afterwards
Exposure and recovery
- Rapid7 InsightVM vulnerability scanning on a schedule, with findings fixed rather than filed
- Cisco Meraki or Fortinet firewall management, segmentation and DNS filtering on office and remote devices
Law office: layered security on Microsoft 365 with cloud-to-cloud backup
A 25-attorney firm needed client confidences protected better than a closet server could manage. Alongside a Microsoft 365 migration, NetSys layered anti-phishing and email threat protection, DNS filtering, multifactor authentication on every account and endpoint protection across attorney devices in the office and remote, and established independent cloud-to-cloud backup of the entire tenant because the recycle bin is not a backup strategy for privileged material. The firm reported 82% fewer IT support incidents per month within two quarters.

What cybersecurity costs in Jersey Shore
Cybersecurity is priced per user per month when it runs as an ongoing service, and per project for an assessment or a remediation. What moves the number: how many devices and identities are in scope, how much incident remediation and recovery is needed beyond the monitoring and authorized MDR actions in scope, which compliance standard the evidence has to satisfy, and whether the Microsoft 365 tenant is already on Business Premium or the security tooling comes from us. The free external penetration test costs nothing and runs remotely before any of that. Our managed IT pricing page explains how the fee is built.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: businesses with enough people, money movement or regulated data that a breach would hurt, and no security team of their own: professional practices, healthcare groups, importers, financial firms, nonprofits and agencies holding client credentials. Companies with an internal IT person fit as a co-managed arrangement.

Cybersecurity on the Jersey Shore: FAQs
Do you provide on-site cybersecurity at the Jersey Shore?
Yes, for Monmouth County and northern Ocean County, from the Bayshore towns down through Point Pleasant, Brick and Lakewood. Monitoring and response run remotely around the clock, and engineers come on site to install firewalls and access points, separate guest networks, deal with a compromised machine or brief staff after an incident. Toms River and the bay towns below it sit 50 to 60 miles from Park Slope, so visits there are booked only after we confirm the drive, and Long Beach Island is served remotely.
How much do cybersecurity services cost at the Jersey Shore?
Security is priced per user per month, usually as part of a managed IT agreement, after an assessment. The figure depends on how many people and devices need protection, whether there are servers, how many locations and firewalls are involved, and whether HIPAA or card-payment evidence is part of the work. A standalone project, such as a firewall replacement or a remediation sprint after a penetration test, gets its own quote after scoping. There is no public price list, and agreements are month to month.
Which cybersecurity requirements apply to businesses at the Jersey Shore?
It depends on the business, but four come up most. New Jersey's breach law covers Social Security numbers, account numbers and online credentials, and puts a call to the State Police ahead of any customer letters. Since January 15, 2025, the state's privacy act has asked for reasonable security from controllers that handle personal data on 100,000 or more New Jersey consumers in a year, or 25,000 or more when they also profit from selling it. Medical and dental practices follow the HIPAA Security Rule, and anyone taking cards follows PCI DSS through their card processor agreement. This is general information, not legal advice.
What should we do in the first hour of a suspected breach?
Call the help desk or your dedicated engineer and say it is a security incident; severe problems skip the queue. Do not wipe or rebuild anything, and do not pay or answer a ransom note. Unplug an affected computer from the network if you can, but leave it powered on. Leave the email account that sent strange messages alone until we have looked at it, and call your cyber insurer's hotline if you have a policy. We will isolate devices, lock accounts and start preserving evidence while you contact your attorney.
Is the free external penetration test really free?
Yes. It is the one free offer we make: an engineer tests, from outside your network, what your business exposes to the internet, limited to targets we list together in writing, such as your firewall, VPN, mail system and public websites. You receive a written report ranking each finding by severity, and it is yours whether or not you hire us. Internal network testing and social-engineering exercises are not part of it; those are scoped and quoted separately.
Do you offer cybersecurity consulting without full management?
Yes. Some shore firms already have an IT provider or an internal person and want a second set of eyes: a security assessment, a written incident response plan, a review of Microsoft 365 settings, help answering a cyber insurance questionnaire, or a vCISO who owns the security program and reports to the partners. We scope those as projects or a monthly advisory arrangement. Where we find problems, we can fix them ourselves or hand clear instructions to whoever runs your systems.
See what an attacker sees before they do.
The free assessment is a remote external penetration test, limited to the information available to NetSys and the external scope we agree with you. Internal reviews and ongoing security management are scoped separately.
