Cybersecurity Services in Central New Jersey
Security for Central Jersey firms that sit inside bigger supply chains: pharma suppliers in Somerset, contractors serving Naval Weapons Station Earle, practices that share patients with regional hospitals. NetSys deploys the controls, watches them around the clock and keeps the evidence your customers and insurers ask for, with engineers who come to your office anywhere in the three counties.
The short answer
NetSys provides cybersecurity services across Central New Jersey: ThreatDown managed detection and response, Microsoft Defender for Business, multifactor sign-in with Entra ID Conditional Access, Barracuda email protection, Rapid7 InsightVM scanning, KnowBe4 training and backups the production network cannot delete. Our engineers handle firewall work and incident response in person anywhere in the three counties, and for the borderline towns of Trenton and Toms River the drive is confirmed before a visit is booked. Fees are per user per month, set by assessment, and nothing else is free apart from a remote external penetration test under a written scope.

How cybersecurity is delivered across Central New Jersey
The watching is remote and constant. ThreatDown agents report to a security operations team that works around the clock, Defender for Business adds Microsoft's signals, and our engineers act on confirmed threats by isolating devices and resetting accounts from wherever they are. The physical work happens on site, because Central Jersey is inside our coverage: rebuilding a firewall rule set in Bridgewater, segmenting a lab network in New Brunswick, tracing an unknown device on a Holmdel office network, or helping a Freehold practice recover after an incident. Visits are scheduled by area, an hour or so from Park Slope for most of Middlesex and a little longer for Somerset and Monmouth. At the edges of the region, Trenton and around Toms River, we check the drive time and agree it with you before scheduling any on-site work. Monitoring runs 24/7 from Brooklyn, and so does emergency service. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. The proposal states severe-incident escalation, authorized remediation and any other after-hours work.
What the CentraState attack showed about recovery
On December 30, 2022, CentraState Medical Center in Freehold put new admissions on diversion after what it called an IT security issue; in February 2023 it confirmed that patient names, Social Security numbers, insurance details and medical records had been stolen in the ransomware attack. Every organization that shares data with a hospital, from physician practices to billing services and labs, should treat that as a planning case. The questions that matter are practical. How long can you work if your main system is unreachable? Which records exist on only one server? Who calls the insurer, the lawyer and the State Police? We answer them in writing during onboarding: recovery time targets for each system, offline copies of key documents, a contact list that does not live only in email, and a tabletop exercise once a year.
Supplier security for pharma and defense customers
Somerset and Middlesex are home to many of New Jersey's pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and their vendors, from staffing firms to contract labs and logistics providers, are routinely asked to prove their security before a contract renews. The usual requests are multifactor authentication, endpoint detection and response, encrypted laptops, tested backups, vulnerability scanning and an incident response plan. Monmouth has a defense presence as well: Naval Weapons Station Earle, with its Mainside in Colts Neck and its pier complex reaching into Raritan Bay from Leonardo. Firms holding controlled unclassified information on a defense contract still owe the NIST SP 800-171 controls under DFARS 252.204-7012, even though the department suspended CMMC Phase 2 on July 13, 2026; self-assessed CMMC Level 1 and Level 2 still apply. We map controls to whichever framework applies and keep the evidence current.
Identity, email and payment fraud controls
Most incidents in small and midsize firms start with a mailbox, not an exotic exploit. A password is phished or reused, the attacker signs in, sets a hidden forwarding rule and waits for an invoice to redirect. So the first controls we deploy are about identity: multifactor sign-in on every account, with phishing-resistant methods for administrators, Entra ID Conditional Access that blocks sign-ins from unmanaged devices and unexpected countries, and alerts when someone creates a new inbox rule or registers a new authentication method. Barracuda Email Protection screens for lookalike domains and impersonation, while DMARC, SPF and DKIM records stop others from sending mail as your domain. Finance teams get one plain rule to follow: a request to change bank details is verified by calling the vendor back on a number taken from your own records.
Testing, scanning and the evidence file
Controls only count if they can be shown to work. Rapid7 InsightVM scans internal and internet-facing systems on a schedule and ranks findings by real risk, so patching goes where it matters first. KnowBe4 phishing simulations show which departments click and whether training changes that. Backup restores are tested and recorded. Each month the results go into an evidence file in IT Glue alongside policies, network diagrams and screenshots of key settings, ready for an insurer's renewal questionnaire, a customer's supplier review or a question from the board. The free external penetration test is a sensible starting point: our engineers probe what you expose to the internet, remotely and inside a scope agreed in writing, then report what an attacker could see and reach. Many firms run it before deciding anything else.
Cybersecurity in Central New Jersey: what NetSys delivers
Watch and respond

- Microsoft Defender for Business, Entra ID Conditional Access and phishing-resistant sign-in for finance staff
- Legacy authentication off, dormant accounts closed, forwarding rules and consent grants reviewed monthly
Measure and recover
- Rapid7 InsightVM scans of the internal and external footprint, with a monthly fix list
- Managed firewall with intrusion prevention, segmentation and vendor access that is logged and switched off when the work ends
Law office: layered security on Microsoft 365 with cloud-to-cloud backup
A 25-attorney firm needed client confidences protected better than a closet server could manage. Alongside a Microsoft 365 migration, NetSys layered anti-phishing and email threat protection, DNS filtering, multifactor authentication on every account and endpoint protection across attorney devices in the office and remote, and established independent cloud-to-cloud backup of the entire tenant because the recycle bin is not a backup strategy for privileged material. The firm reported 82% fewer IT support incidents per month within two quarters.

What cybersecurity costs in Central New Jersey
Cybersecurity is priced per user per month when it runs as an ongoing service, and per project for an assessment or a remediation. What moves the number: how many devices and identities are in scope, how much incident remediation and recovery is needed beyond the monitoring and authorized MDR actions in scope, which compliance standard the evidence has to satisfy, and whether the Microsoft 365 tenant is already on Business Premium or the security tooling comes from us. The free external penetration test costs nothing and runs remotely before any of that. Our managed IT pricing page explains how the fee is built.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: businesses with enough people, money movement or regulated data that a breach would hurt, and no security team of their own: professional practices, healthcare groups, importers, financial firms, nonprofits and agencies holding client credentials. Companies with an internal IT person fit as a co-managed arrangement.

Cybersecurity in Central New Jersey: FAQs
Do you provide on-site cybersecurity in Central New Jersey?
Yes. All of Middlesex, Somerset and Monmouth, and the Mercer County towns of Princeton and Hamilton, fall within our on-site radius, and engineers travel out for firewall replacements, network segmentation, wireless security, device recovery and hands-on incident response. Monitoring and containment run remotely around the clock, which means a compromised laptop can be isolated before anyone travels. Offices in Trenton or near Toms River are a little past 50 miles, so before any on-site work there we confirm drive time with you.
How much do cybersecurity services cost in Central New Jersey?
Ongoing security is priced per user per month, and discrete work such as a firewall project, a CMMC gap analysis or incident recovery is quoted after scoping. The fee depends on the number of users, devices and servers, the level of detection and response that fits your exposure, email protection and training coverage, and how much compliance evidence your customers, insurer or contracts require. A supplier answering pharma questionnaires every quarter needs more documentation work than a five-person office. We do not publish prices, and the agreement runs month to month.
Which cybersecurity rules apply to businesses in Central New Jersey?
Begin with the notification statute at N.J.S.A. 56:8-163: after a breach of covered personal information, the business tells the State Police first and then notifies customers without unreasonable delay. Larger data controllers also answer to the state's privacy act, in force since January 15, 2025. Industry rules sit on top: the HIPAA Security Rule for covered practices and the vendors that serve them, NIST SP 800-171 for anyone holding controlled unclassified information on a defense contract, and the FTC Safeguards Rule for tax preparers and other financial firms. This is general information, not legal advice.
Will these controls satisfy our cyber insurance questionnaire?
They are built to. Insurers renewing policies for New Jersey businesses commonly ask about multifactor authentication on email and remote access, endpoint detection and response, offline or immutable backups, privileged account controls, security training and an incident response plan. Our standard stack covers each of those, and we keep screenshots, reports and policies on file so the answers you sign are accurate. We do not choose your insurer or promise a premium, but we can join the renewal call and explain technical controls to the underwriter.
What happens if an attack starts in the middle of the night?
ThreatDown's managed detection and response team watches enrolled devices around the clock. If it confirms ransomware behavior or a hijacked account at 2 a.m., the device is isolated from the network and the account's sessions can be revoked, which stops the spread while people sleep. The alert also reaches our engineers, and anything severe goes to your dedicated engineer, who starts recovery and calls the contacts in your incident plan. In the morning, if hands are needed at the office, an engineer drives out from Brooklyn.
See what an attacker sees before they do.
The free assessment is a remote external penetration test, limited to the information available to NetSys and the external scope we agree with you. Internal reviews and ongoing security management are scoped separately.
