Cybersecurity Services in Queens, NY
For Queens importers, clinics, contractors and offices that cannot absorb a hijacked mailbox or an encrypted server. NetSys runs the controls that stop the attacks most common in the borough, watches for whatever gets past them, and sends engineers from our Brooklyn office, one borough over, when an incident or a firewall needs someone in the room.
The short answer
NetSys provides cybersecurity services to Queens businesses: ThreatDown managed detection and response on every laptop and server, Microsoft Defender for Business, multifactor authentication with Entra ID Conditional Access, Barracuda email protection against payment fraud, Rapid7 vulnerability scanning, KnowBe4 training and immutable Datto or Veeam backups. Alerts are watched 24/7 and acted on by engineers. Queens is inside our on-site area, so after remote containment an engineer can come to your Long Island City office or Jamaica warehouse to rebuild a firewall or reimage a machine. The only free offer is an external penetration test, performed remotely within a scope we agree on first.

How cybersecurity is delivered in Queens
Detection and containment are remote and never wait on traffic. ThreatDown agents, Microsoft 365 sign-in logs and mail flow report to the consoles our engineers watch, and a laptop showing ransomware behavior can be cut off from the network in minutes from wherever the engineer sits. When a person in the room matters, Queens is close: Long Island City is roughly 40 minutes by car from Park Slope, and Flushing, Jamaica or the JFK cargo area about an hour. Engineers come out to reimage a compromised workstation, swap a carrier-supplied router for a managed Fortinet or Meraki firewall, trace an unknown device plugged into a closet switch, or walk the owners through findings. Ransomware, a server down, a dead internet line or email that stopped working skips the queue and goes straight to your dedicated engineer. Monitoring runs 24/7 from Brooklyn, and so does emergency service. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. The proposal states severe-incident escalation, authorized remediation and any other after-hours work.
The attacks Queens businesses actually face
Most losses in the borough start in a mailbox, not at the firewall. An importer in Maspeth gets an invoice from a real supplier's address carrying new bank details. A forwarder near JFK receives a booking change from a domain one letter off. A clinic manager in Forest Hills signs in to a fake Microsoft 365 page, and the attacker replays her session from overseas. The FBI's 2025 Internet Crime Report put reported business email compromise losses at about $3 billion nationally, second only to investment fraud. Each pattern has a matching control: Barracuda impersonation and lookalike-domain filtering, Conditional Access that refuses sign-ins from unmanaged devices, alerts when someone creates an inbox forwarding rule, and a standing policy that bank-detail changes are verified by phone using a number you already had. Endpoint detection then covers the malicious attachment or remote-control tool that email filtering misses.
Public incidents New York City organizations learned from
Three city cases translate directly into small-business controls. In June 2021 the city's Law Department pulled its computers off the city network after an intrusion that reporting tied to a stolen employee email password, which is why multifactor sign-in goes on every account first. In April 2021 attackers linked to China used a zero-day flaw in the Pulse Connect Secure remote-access appliance to reach three MTA computer systems; the agency patched, forced password resets for 3,700 users and moved remote staff to other VPNs. In early 2022 an attack on the vendor behind a grading and attendance platform exposed records of about 820,000 current and former city public school students. Scaled down to a 20-person firm, the lessons are plain: nothing faces the internet without current patches and strong sign-in, and every vendor that holds your data gets reviewed before renewal.
Warehouses, storefronts and shared PCs
In Queens the building causes as many security problems as the inbox. A warehouse in Maspeth or College Point may run handheld scanners, cameras, a time clock and the office PCs on one flat network behind the router the carrier installed, so a single infected laptop can reach all of it. A storefront office in Flushing or Jackson Heights may share its Wi-Fi with customers. We split those devices into separate network segments, put a managed firewall with logging at the edge, close forwarded ports that expose cameras or remote-desktop servers, and move shared workstations to individual sign-ins so every login belongs to one person. Training matters here too: the Census Bureau reports that 55 percent of Queens residents speak a language other than English at home, so phishing lessons land better in the language staff read most easily, where course content exists in it.
What the first 30 days look like
Days one to seven build the inventory: users, mailboxes, laptops, servers, cameras and every service reachable from the internet, plus a review of who holds Microsoft 365 admin rights and an internal Rapid7 InsightVM scan. Days eight to fourteen lock down sign-in: multifactor authentication and Conditional Access on all accounts, former employees removed, shared passwords moved into Keeper. Days fifteen to twenty-one replace the old antivirus with ThreatDown and Defender for Business and move mail filtering to Barracuda, with DMARC reporting turned on before it enforces. The last stretch sets immutable backups and a timed restore, the first KnowBe4 phishing simulation and a one-page incident plan naming who calls whom when a ransom note appears. Staff notice a phone prompt at sign-in and a short course. Owners get the remaining gaps ranked by risk and cost.

Law office: layered security on Microsoft 365 with cloud-to-cloud backup
A 25-attorney firm needed client confidences protected better than a closet server could manage. Alongside a Microsoft 365 migration, NetSys layered anti-phishing and email threat protection, DNS filtering, multifactor authentication on every account and endpoint protection across attorney devices in the office and remote, and established independent cloud-to-cloud backup of the entire tenant because the recycle bin is not a backup strategy for privileged material. The firm reported 82% fewer IT support incidents per month within two quarters.

What cybersecurity costs in Queens
Cybersecurity is priced per user per month when it runs as an ongoing service, and per project for an assessment or a remediation. What moves the number: how many devices and identities are in scope, how much incident remediation and recovery is needed beyond the monitoring and authorized MDR actions in scope, which compliance standard the evidence has to satisfy, and whether the Microsoft 365 tenant is already on Business Premium or the security tooling comes from us. The free external penetration test costs nothing and runs remotely before any of that. Our managed IT pricing page explains how the fee is built.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: businesses with enough people, money movement or regulated data that a breach would hurt, and no security team of their own: professional practices, healthcare groups, importers, financial firms, nonprofits and agencies holding client credentials. Companies with an internal IT person fit as a co-managed arrangement.

Cybersecurity in Queens: FAQs
Do you provide on-site cybersecurity services in Queens?
Yes. Queens is inside the area our Brooklyn engineers cover in person, so someone comes to your office or warehouse when an incident or project needs hands: pulling and reimaging an infected PC, installing or reconfiguring a firewall, checking a closet for unknown hardware, or presenting a risk report to the owners. Monitoring, isolation and most fixes happen remotely first because that is faster than any drive. Severe problems, including ransomware, a down server, lost internet and email outages, go directly to your dedicated engineer rather than a general queue.
How much do cybersecurity services cost in Queens?
Ongoing security carries a per-user monthly fee set by an assessment; we keep figures off the website because the inputs vary so much. The number of laptops and servers, whether a warehouse or clinic adds cameras and shared devices, how much compliance evidence you need for an insurer or regulator, and which existing tools you already pay for all move it. One-time work, such as a firewall replacement or a breach investigation, is quoted after scoping. The external penetration test is free and comes with a written report whether or not you hire us.
Which cybersecurity requirements apply to businesses in Queens?
Every business that holds private information about New Yorkers is subject to the SHIELD Act's reasonable-safeguards duty in General Business Law section 899-bb, and section 899-aa requires breach notice to affected residents within 30 days after discovery, plus the Attorney General, the Department of State and the State Police. Insurance agencies and brokers licensed by DFS follow 23 NYCRR Part 500, which since November 1, 2025 has required multifactor authentication for anyone accessing their systems. Medical and dental offices add the HIPAA Security Rule. This is general information, not legal advice.
What does the free external penetration test cover?
It is a remote test of what your business exposes to the internet, run within a scope we agree in writing first: the public IP addresses of each office and warehouse, the VPN or remote-desktop gateway, the mail domain and its SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, and any customer or vendor portal you host. We look for open ports, outdated firmware, weak sign-in pages and misconfigurations an attacker could use. You receive a report ranking each finding with the fix, and it is yours to keep and use with any provider.
What happens if our Queens office is hit by ransomware?
Call the help desk or your dedicated engineer and leave the affected machines powered on but unplugged from the network. We isolate endpoints through ThreatDown, disable compromised accounts, preserve logs for your insurer and counsel, and work out how the attacker got in before restoring anything. Recovery comes from immutable backups the attacker could not reach. Over the past three years we have handled more than 30 ransomware incidents, with every one fully recovered, and clients that had a disaster recovery plan were running again within 24 hours. An engineer comes on site if hardware needs replacing.
See what an attacker sees before they do.
The free assessment is a remote external penetration test, limited to the information available to NetSys and the external scope we agree with you. Internal reviews and ongoing security management are scoped separately.
