Wealth Management IT Support in Los Angeles, CA
For registered investment advisers, wealth managers and family offices in Century City, Downtown, Westwood, Encino and the rest of Los Angeles, where one spoofed email can move a client's money and one examination can ask for every message an adviser sent. NetSys runs secure, documented IT for these firms remotely from Brooklyn, month to month.
The short answer
NetSys provides IT support and cybersecurity for wealth management firms in Los Angeles: managed laptops and phones, Microsoft 365 with Conditional Access and phishing-resistant multifactor sign-in, email and Teams retention for recordkeeping, wire-fraud controls, ThreatDown managed detection and response, encrypted backups and the incident response program the amended Regulation S-P requires. Support is remote, and NetSys does not send engineers to Los Angeles. Engineers staff the help desk from 1 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific, seven days a week, well ahead of the 6:30 a.m. market open, with 24/7 monitoring. Pricing is per user per month after an assessment.

How LA wealth managers work, and where their IT is exposed
Los Angeles wealth management is spread out. Large firms and multifamily offices fill the towers on Avenue of the Stars in Century City and on Bunker Hill downtown, while independent RIAs and boutique planners work from Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood, Ventura Boulevard in Encino and Sherman Oaks, Pasadena and the South Bay. Many advisers spend half the week with clients or at home, so the office is wherever the laptop is. The core systems look similar from firm to firm: a CRM, portfolio management and performance reporting, financial planning software, custodian portals, e-signature, document storage and a message archive. The SEC's Los Angeles Regional Office, at 444 South Flower Street, handles examinations across Southern California, and state-registered advisers answer to California's Department of Financial Protection and Innovation. Clients here include entertainment figures, real estate families and business owners whose wealth and public profiles make them targets, so any request that claims to come from a client or a client's business manager deserves extra suspicion before money moves.
Remote support built for advisers' hours
NetSys supports Los Angeles advisory firms from Brooklyn and does not send engineers to their offices. The schedule fits the business: engineers staff the help desk from 1 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific every day, so an adviser locked out at 6 a.m. before the market opens reaches a person, and a planner finishing client reviews on a Saturday has help. Monitoring and emergency service run 24/7. Critical issues get a phone response within ten minutes and remote work within thirty, and a suspected account compromise goes straight to the firm's dedicated engineer. New laptops ship encrypted and enrolled in Intune, ready at first sign-in, which matters for advisers who rarely sit at the same desk twice in a week.
Stopping wire fraud and client impersonation
California led the nation in the FBI's 2024 Internet Crime Report, with 96,265 complaints and about $2.54 billion in reported losses. For advisory firms, the expensive version is a fake client request to move money, or a compromised adviser mailbox used to send altered instructions to an operations team. We cut the email risk with phishing-resistant multifactor sign-in, Conditional Access that rejects unmanaged devices, alerts on new forwarding rules and sign-ins from unusual places, DMARC to reduce spoofing of the firm's domain, and Barracuda impersonation detection. The process controls matter as much: a callback to a number on file for any disbursement or change of instructions, a second approver for large transfers, and a written record of each verification for the compliance file.
Recordkeeping, archiving and the Palisades Fire
Advisers must keep business communications under the SEC's books-and-records rule, and the agency's 2024 enforcement actions over texts and messaging apps, including the first against a standalone adviser in April 2024, made clear that personal phones are not exempt. We set up Microsoft 365 retention and an archive for email and Teams, an approved way to text clients, and policies that block unapproved messaging apps on managed phones. Continuity is the other half of recordkeeping. In January 2025 the Palisades Fire destroyed 6,845 structures, according to Cal Fire, and evacuation orders reached north Santa Monica. A firm whose records live in the cloud, with backups outside Southern California and laptops that work anywhere, can keep serving clients through a week like that.

Rules that shape IT for Los Angeles wealth managers
SEC Regulation S-P, amended in 2024
The SEC's 2024 amendments require covered advisers and broker-dealers to keep a written incident response program to detect, respond to and recover from unauthorized access to customer information, and to notify affected individuals as soon as practicable and no later than 30 days after becoming aware of a qualifying incident. Larger entities had to comply by December 3, 2025, and smaller entities, including advisers with under $1.5 billion in assets under management, by June 3, 2026. Oversight of service providers is part of the rule.
The withdrawn SEC cyber proposal and what still binds
On June 12, 2025 the SEC withdrew its 2022 proposal for a dedicated cybersecurity risk management rule for advisers and funds, and said it does not intend to finalize it. The binding framework is therefore the existing one: Regulation S-P, Regulation S-ID's identity theft program where it applies, the compliance program rule and the books-and-records rule. Those are what an examination measures your policies, access controls, vendor oversight and incident records against.
California: DFPI, the CCPA and reasonable security
Investment advisers with less than $100 million under management generally register with California's Department of Financial Protection and Innovation rather than the SEC. The CCPA exempts personal information collected under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, but the exemption covers data, not firms, so website, marketing and employee data can still fall under it. Civil Code 1798.81.5 requires reasonable security for California residents' personal information, and 1798.82 sets breach-notice duties. This is general information, not legal advice.

Wealth Management Firms in Los Angeles: FAQs
Who provides IT support for wealth management firms in Los Angeles?
NetSys supports registered investment advisers, wealth managers and family offices in Los Angeles remotely from Brooklyn. We manage devices, Microsoft 365, identity and multifactor sign-in, email security, message retention, backups and the vendors behind your CRM, portfolio and planning software, and we build the incident response program the amended Regulation S-P expects. NetSys has worked in IT since 1998, runs month-to-month agreements and keeps 98% of its clients. We do not send engineers to Los Angeles offices; equipment ships configured.
How does IT support work for Los Angeles wealth management organizations?
Through a remote help desk staffed by engineers from 1 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific every day, with 24/7 monitoring and emergency service behind it. Advisers reach us by phone, email or Teams, and a suspected compromise, ransomware or an email outage goes directly to the firm's dedicated engineer. We meet the chief compliance officer quarterly to review access, incidents, vendor changes and open risks, and we provide the logs and reports an examination or a client's due diligence questionnaire asks for.
What does IT support cost for a wealth management firm in Los Angeles?
It is per user per month, set after an assessment, and we do not publish prices. What moves the figure: the number of advisers and staff, how many offices and home offices, the retention and archiving you need for email, Teams and texts, any on-premises servers, and whether you want us to maintain the written policies behind Regulation S-P. The security stack, training, backups and vendor coordination are included. Projects such as a custodian transition or merging two firms' systems are quoted separately.
How do you help us meet the Regulation S-P incident response requirements?
We help you build the program and run its technical parts. That means a written plan naming who decides what, logging retained long enough to tell which customer records were accessed, a contact list for your service providers with their notice terms, and a customer notice template your counsel approves. On the technical side, ThreatDown MDR detects and contains, Microsoft 365 audit logs show what a compromised account touched, and backups prove integrity. We run a tabletop exercise each year so the 30-day clock is never a surprise.
Do you support our portfolio management, CRM and custodian platforms?
We support everything those platforms depend on and manage the vendor relationship, without claiming to administer the applications themselves. We connect them to Entra ID single sign-on where they allow it, enforce multifactor sign-in where they do not, keep browsers and plugins current, and review which third-party integrations can reach client data. When a custodian portal or reporting tool misbehaves, we collect the facts and open the case with the vendor. Departing employees lose access to every platform on their last day.
How do you protect high-profile clients' information?
By limiting who can see it and watching for misuse. Client folders for public figures or family offices get restricted permissions and sensitivity labels, external sharing is turned off for them, and downloads to unmanaged devices are blocked. Staff with access receive extra phishing training, because impersonating a known client or their business manager is the usual approach. We alert on unusual access to those files and review the permissions quarterly with your compliance officer.
