Healthcare IT Support in Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles healthcare runs through medical groups, IPAs, community clinic networks and specialty organizations with five, ten or twenty sites, each exchanging data with hospitals and health plans. NetSys runs the shared IT behind those networks remotely from Brooklyn: one identity system, segmented site networks, monitored endpoints and a HIPAA program that holds up at every location.
The short answer
NetSys provides healthcare IT support in Los Angeles for organizations that operate as a network: multi-site medical groups and IPAs, community clinic systems, and behavioral health and specialty groups. We manage identity, endpoints, site-to-site networking, Microsoft 365, ThreatDown managed detection and response, backups and the documentation behind an enterprise HIPAA risk analysis. Support is remote and cloud-based only; NetSys does not send staff to Los Angeles sites, and equipment ships pre-configured for your facilities team or a cabling contractor to install. Pricing is per user per month after an assessment, and agreements run month to month.

What changes for a healthcare organization in Los Angeles
Southern California runs heavily on delegated managed care. Medical groups and independent practice associations take on risk from health plans, handle claims and authorizations for the care they manage, and file financial reports with the state's Department of Managed Health Care as risk-bearing organizations. Medi-Cal is a large share of the work: L.A. Care Health Plan, the largest publicly operated health plan in the country, reports more than 2.9 million members in the county. That model means a Los Angeles medical group holds far more data than its clinics alone suggest, including eligibility files, claims, referral authorizations and care management records exchanged with plans and with hospital systems such as Cedars-Sinai, UCLA Health and Keck Medicine of USC. It also makes the group a target. In December 2022 a ransomware attack on Regal Medical Group, headquartered in Northridge, exposed data on about 3.3 million people across Regal and its affiliated groups. In August 2023 an attack on Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings disrupted hospitals in several states. Security has to be designed for the network, not the clinic.
Running a multi-site network from Brooklyn
A clinic network needs the same answer at every site, and remote management is how we deliver it. Each location gets a Fortinet or Cisco Meraki firewall configured in Brooklyn and shipped ready, linked to the core over an encrypted tunnel, with clinical devices, staff PCs, guest Wi-Fi and building systems on separate segments. NinjaOne patches and inventories every workstation, IT Glue records each site's circuit, carrier and closet layout, and Intune with Windows Autopilot builds new devices without anyone touching them first. NetSys does not send engineers to Los Angeles clinics. Physical work such as a new cable run or a rack swap is done by your facilities staff or a low-voltage contractor you choose, with our engineer on the phone. Monitoring and emergency service run 24/7; the help desk is staffed seven days a week from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, equal to 1 a.m. through 8 p.m. on the West Coast.
One HIPAA program across every location
A common HIPAA failure in multi-site organizations is drift: a clinic that kept its old file server, a site manager with a shared login, a scanner that emails patient records to a personal account, a new location opened before anyone updated the asset list. We run the risk analysis at the organization level and keep it current as sites open and close. Entra ID Conditional Access gives every user one identity with multifactor sign-in and keeps unmanaged devices away from the EHR and email. Role-based groups decide who sees which clinic's records. Rapid7 InsightVM scans every site monthly, and findings are tracked to closure. Business associate agreements, vendor access and offboarding are documented in one place, so the compliance officer can show an auditor the whole network rather than a folder per site.
Phishing, ransomware and the day the network goes dark
The February 2024 phishing campaign against Los Angeles County's Department of Public Health shows how these incidents start: attackers collected the credentials of 53 employees through a phishing email, and the department later notified more than 200,000 people. We assume a click will happen and limit what it can reach, with Barracuda filtering, phishing-resistant sign-in for administrators and billing staff, ThreatDown watching for lateral movement and alerts on unusual mailbox rules. Each clinic should also be able to keep seeing patients if the core is down, with a downtime copy of the day's schedule, paper forms and a cellular circuit for cloud EHR access. Immutable backups live outside California. The 1994 Northridge earthquake left 14 hospitals damaged and out of service, a reminder that recovery plans here must assume buildings and roads fail together. Across more than 30 ransomware cases in the past three years, NetSys has brought every client back in full.

Rules for Los Angeles healthcare organizations
HIPAA Security Rule at organization scale
Covered entities and business associates must run an accurate and thorough risk analysis, manage the risks it finds, control and log access, plan for contingencies and hold business associates to written agreements. HHS's Office for Civil Rights has settled a series of cases in 2025 and 2026 under its Risk Analysis Initiative, most after ransomware. The January 2025 proposal to tighten the rule is not final, so current obligations come from the existing rule.
Health and Safety Code 1280.15 for licensed clinics and facilities
Clinics, health facilities, home health agencies and hospices licensed by the state must report unauthorized access to, or use or disclosure of, a patient's medical information to the California Department of Public Health and to the affected patient no later than 15 business days after detection. Organizations that run licensed clinics alongside physician offices need an incident process that knows which sites fall under this rule.
California's CMIA and sensitive services records
The Confidentiality of Medical Information Act reaches providers, health plans and their contractors. Negligent release can cost $1,000 per patient in nominal damages even when no harm is shown, and fines and civil penalties climb for knowing and willful violations. Businesses that store sensitive services records, such as reproductive and gender-affirming care, carry added duties under Civil Code 56.101 to segregate them and restrict access. Healthcare Organizations in Los Angeles: FAQs
What does healthcare IT support cost for a Los Angeles medical group?
It is priced per user per month from an assessment. For multi-site organizations the drivers are the number of locations and firewalls, servers or hosted applications still on premises, interfaces with health plans and hospitals, the depth of HIPAA documentation you want us to maintain, and whether an internal IT team keeps part of the work in a co-managed split. New-site buildouts and system migrations are quoted after scoping. There is no long-term contract.
How does IT support work for healthcare organizations in Los Angeles?
Remotely, for every site. Staff reach engineers in Brooklyn from 1 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific any day, and monitoring and emergency response cover the overnight hours. We do not send people to California locations, so firewalls, switches and PCs arrive configured and your facilities team or a local low-voltage contractor connects them with our engineer guiding the work. Ransomware, an EHR outage or a site losing its network goes straight to your dedicated engineer.
How do you run a HIPAA risk analysis across several clinics?
We inventory every site's devices, applications, data flows and vendors, then rate the risks at the organization level so a weak clinic does not hide inside an average. The report maps each finding to the Security Rule safeguard it touches and to a fix with an owner and a date. Scan-driven checks repeat monthly, and the full analysis is refreshed every year or whenever a site opens, closes or changes systems. Your compliance officer owns the program; we supply the evidence.
Do you support our EHR and practice-management systems?
We support the environment they run in: identity and single sign-on, workstations, printers and scanners, interfaces and VPNs to plans and hospitals, and the network each clinic uses to reach a cloud EHR. Problems inside the application go to its vendor, and we work those tickets alongside them. Clinical content, templates and billing rules stay with your informatics or revenue cycle team.
What should a Los Angeles clinic network do before the next big earthquake?
Assume no one can reach the building and the local circuit is down. Keep the EHR and email in the cloud or replicated outside the region, give each clinic a cellular backup line and paper downtime packs, store backups away from Southern California, and keep an emergency contact tree that does not depend on the office phone system. We test failover to cellular and a restore from offsite backup at least once a year, and record the results for your HIPAA contingency plan.
