IT Support in Stamford, CT
Between the hedge funds of Greenwich and Westport, the corporate headquarters downtown and the law, accounting and medical offices that serve them, Stamford firms run on tight deadlines. NetSys supports teams of 5 to 75 there with engineers who answer the help desk, laptops kept patched and protected, and on-site visits anywhere in Fairfield County from our office in Brooklyn.
The short answer
NetSys provides IT support to Stamford businesses: engineers on the help desk, Microsoft 365 and device support, accounts for new hires and closeouts for leavers, patching, endpoint protection and backup checks. Stamford and the rest of Fairfield County are inside our on-site area, so an engineer travels from Brooklyn for hardware, network and office-move work, while routine requests are handled remotely first. The help desk is staffed seven days a week from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, and emergency service is available 24/7. Agreements run month to month and are priced per user after an assessment.

Hedge funds, headquarters and the offices that serve them
Stamford is home to the headquarters of Charter Communications, Synchrony Financial and Philip Morris International, and Greenwich adds W.R. Berkley and Interactive Brokers. Bridgewater Associates is based in Westport, and AdvanceCT counts Fairfield County's concentration of portfolio management firms at many times the national average. Around them work law and accounting firms, family offices, search firms and medical practices connected to Stamford Health, Greenwich Hospital and Norwalk Hospital. Those names describe the market, not our clients. The smaller firms in it share a few needs: accounts and laptops ready when an analyst or associate starts, email defenses against impersonation and fake wire requests, dependable remote access for people who split the week between Stamford and Manhattan, and records that hold up when an investor's due diligence questionnaire or a cyber insurance renewal arrives.
Getting to Stamford from Brooklyn
Our office at 1 Prospect Park SW in Brooklyn is about 42 miles from downtown Stamford. With light traffic the drive takes roughly an hour and a quarter; at rush hour, when I-95 and the Merritt Parkway both back up, it can take much longer, so we schedule visits outside the peaks where we can. Metro-North's New Haven Line is the other way in, with faster trains covering Grand Central to Stamford in about 50 minutes. Because Fairfield County is inside our on-site area, we come in person for hardware swaps, network closets, conference rooms and office moves, and deliver everything else remotely through NinjaOne. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern, every day of the week, with emergency service available 24/7. Monitoring runs 24/7 on every enrolled device.
Greenwich to Westport, and across the New York line
The whole county is inside our on-site area, so the same visit terms apply in Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Cos Cob, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Rowayton and Westport, and farther out in Wilton, Ridgefield, Fairfield, Bridgeport, Shelton and Danbury. Just over the state line, Westchester towns such as Port Chester, Rye and White Plains are on-site territory for us too, as is Manhattan, which helps a firm with offices on both sides of the border. North and east of the county the arrangement changes: New Haven, Hartford and the rest of Connecticut are served remote-first, with any visit arranged in advance and its travel stated in writing. A Stamford firm with a satellite office in New Haven can keep both under one agreement, with the terms for each written separately.
Storm surge, outages and working from home
Stamford has relied on a hurricane barrier across its harbor since 1969, and Army Corps of Engineers records list Hurricane Sandy in 2012 as the highest water the barrier has faced. Power is the more frequent worry: Tropical Storm Isaias in August 2020 cut electricity to more than 800,000 Eversource customers at its peak. For the firms we support, storm planning happens before the season. We confirm where email and files live and that backups restore, keep laptops enrolled in Intune so staff can work from home on a managed device, and document the network so an internet provider's technician can find the right circuit. When power returns, monitoring shows which devices came back and which need a visit.

A 26-person accounting and advisory practice in Stamford
This planning example shows how we could scope the work. It is not a claim about a customer in this market or a measured result. For published customer work, see our case studies.
An accounting and advisory practice a short walk from the Stamford train station. Many staff commute from Westchester or New York City and work from home two days a week. Tax season brings temporary hires who share one generic login, client returns with Social Security numbers sit in a folder everyone can open, a partner's mailbox was nearly used for a fake wire request last spring, and the part-time IT contractor is hard to reach in April.
- Named accounts for every seasonal hire, created from a checklist and switched off when the season ends
- Client folders reorganized so staff see only their own engagements, with access reviewed each quarter
- Barracuda Email Protection in front of every mailbox, and a call-back step for payment changes agreed with the partners
- Intune enrollment for each laptop and phone, with encryption required and remote wipe tested
- Multifactor authentication on every Microsoft 365 account, and shared passwords moved into Keeper
- On-site visits booked outside the April crunch for the network closet and conference room
Seasonal staff arrive and leave on a checklist, client folders are no longer open to everyone, and payment requests get a second check before money moves. The partners receive a monthly summary of tickets, patches and backup results, and the agreement stays month to month.
Law office
A firm of 25 attorneys plus staff in the greater New York metro area was losing time to IT problems nobody could bill for. In a four-week project we moved it to Microsoft 365 with layered security and cloud-to-cloud backup, and within two quarters its monthly IT support incidents were down 82%. The relevance here is practical: Fairfield County's law, accounting and advisory offices depend on the same Microsoft 365 tools and lose billable hours the same way.

Breach notice and privacy law thresholds for Fairfield County firms
Any business that owns, licenses or maintains computerized personal information about Connecticut residents is covered by the breach notice law, Conn. Gen. Stat. 36a-701b. Affected residents must be notified without unreasonable delay and within 60 days of discovery, the Attorney General no later than the residents, and when Social Security or taxpayer identification numbers are exposed, residents must be offered at least 24 months of free identity theft protection. A vendor holding your data must tell you immediately. The Connecticut Data Privacy Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. 42-515 and following, requires reasonable data security, and since July 1, 2026 it covers any business that processed personal data of 35,000 or more Connecticut consumers last year, processes any sensitive data, now including Social Security numbers and financial account log-ins, or sells personal data. Banks, insurers, regulated advisers and broker-dealers, and data covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act have their own exemptions. Applicable duties depend on the business, its data and its contracts, and your legal or compliance adviser decides which apply.
What moves the monthly fee for a Stamford office
We charge per user per month, set after a short assessment, and the agreement runs month to month. For a Stamford firm the figure depends on how much scheduled on-site time you want, whether an office in Manhattan or Westchester is also in scope, how many specialized applications, such as portfolio, tax or practice management systems, need support, whether Microsoft and security licenses are already in place, and whether you need after-hours work beyond monitoring. Shared machines, such as front-desk or conference-room computers, can be priced per device.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: firms of 5 to 75 people in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien or Norwalk, mostly on Microsoft 365, such as investment offices, law and accounting practices, corporate satellite offices and medical practices, where nobody's full-time job is IT or one in-house person wants engineers to escalate to.
Choose our managed IT service instead if you want one provider to own the roadmap, budget and vendor strategy. Migrations and application integrations are scoped as separate projects, and we coordinate with trading and portfolio platform vendors rather than administering those platforms.

IT Support in Stamford, CT: FAQs
How long does it take you to reach Stamford?
Our office is in Brooklyn, about 42 miles from downtown Stamford. In light traffic the drive is roughly an hour and a quarter, and at rush hour on I-95 or the Merritt Parkway it can be much longer, which is why visits are booked ahead. Metro-North's New Haven Line from Grand Central is another route in. Urgent problems start remotely through NinjaOne while a visit is arranged, if one is needed.
Can an engineer be at our office on a set day each week?
It can be, in Fairfield County. An engagement that needs regular presence can include a nearby engineer once availability, location and the visit schedule are confirmed in the proposal. Until that is settled, visits are booked as the work requires, and the help desk and monitoring carry the day-to-day load from Brooklyn.
What hours is the help desk staffed?
The help desk is staffed seven days a week from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, and emergency service is available 24/7. The early start covers people who log in well before the markets open. Monitoring continues through the night, and severe problems, such as ransomware, a dead internet line or email that has stopped, go directly to your dedicated engineer.
Does the Connecticut Data Privacy Act apply to a small Stamford firm?
It can. Since July 1, 2026 the act covers a business that processed personal data of 35,000 or more Connecticut consumers last year, processes any sensitive data such as Social Security numbers or financial account log-ins, or sells personal data, subject to exemptions for banks, insurers, regulated advisers and broker-dealers and others. Your counsel decides whether it applies. We can show where that data sits in Microsoft 365 and on your devices, and tighten who can reach it.
Do you support hedge funds and investment firms?
Yes, at the IT support level: the help desk, laptops and phones, Microsoft 365, onboarding and offboarding, patching, endpoint protection and backup checks. We work with the vendors behind trading, portfolio and market-data systems when a problem sits on their side, and we keep device lists, access changes and patch records in a form your compliance team can use when investors or insurers send due diligence questions.
