IT Support in Long Island
NetSys provides IT support to businesses in Long Island: a help desk staffed by engineers, 24/7 monitoring behind it, patching and device management that happen without anyone remembering, and on-site work when hands are needed. Since 1998, month to month. Our office is at 1 Prospect Park SW in Brooklyn, so Nassau County is 45 to 60 minutes from Park Slope by car and western Suffolk 60 to 90, so on-site visits to Garden City, Melville or Hauppauge are scheduled work rather than a special trip; engineers come to you for the work that needs hands, and monitoring and help desk run remotely around the clock. Most clients run between 10 and 75 seats, and every agreement is month to month.

How IT support is delivered in Long Island
Our office is at 1 Prospect Park SW in Brooklyn, so Nassau County is 45 to 60 minutes from Park Slope by car and western Suffolk 60 to 90, so on-site visits to Garden City, Melville or Hauppauge are scheduled work rather than a special trip; engineers come to you for the work that needs hands, and monitoring and help desk run remotely around the clock. The buildings decide a lot of the design. Office parks along Route 110 and the Long Island Expressway have carrier choice, but medical suites in older Garden City and Great Neck buildings often share one circuit across several practices, and Hauppauge industrial parks put the server closet next to the shop floor, so segmentation and a second path out are designed on the first visit. The carriers we see most in Long Island are Optimum Business, Verizon Fios and Lightpath, and the failover design starts with which of them actually reach your building.
Who IT support in Long Island is built for
Most of our Long Island work sits in Garden City, Melville, Hauppauge, Great Neck and Mineola: medical groups and surgical centers on athenahealth, manufacturers and aerospace suppliers on Epicor, accounting firms on CCH Axcess, law firms on Clio, insurance agencies on Applied Epic, and auto dealers on CDK Global. Each carries its own compliance load, which the section below covers, and each has a line-of-business vendor we coordinate with rather than work around. Companies with an internal IT person fit too; in that case we supply the monitoring, the security stack and the after-hours coverage behind them, and they keep their projects.
What tends to go wrong in Long Island
Two things shape the continuity design here. First, the weather and the grid: Sandy and Ida both flooded South Shore businesses, and summer thunderstorms take power out along the North Shore every year, so tested off-site backups and UPS runtime are part of every design. Second, the attacks that actually land locally are ordinary ones, and the public record shows how they go: the September 2022 ransomware attack on Suffolk County government, which took county websites, email and 911 support systems offline for weeks and was traced to an unpatched, internet-facing server. The controls in the next section are the ones that would have changed those stories.
IT Support in Long Island: what NetSys delivers
The help desk
- Phone, email and Teams support from engineers, with an immediate response from your dedicated engineer for anything severe and everything else worked by severity
- Remote resolution first through NinjaOne, with screen-sharing the user approves, and on-site when hands are needed
- Microsoft 365 support: Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint and the line-of-business apps that sit on them
- New-hire setup and departure offboarding through a checklist: accounts, devices, access, hardware
Behind the desk
- 24/7 monitoring of every workstation, server and firewall, so many problems are fixed before anyone calls
- Patching and routine maintenance on the schedule you choose, weekly for some clients and quarterly for others, with urgent fixes applied as needed
- Intune and Windows Autopilot device management, so laptops configure themselves and lost devices can be wiped
- Managed antivirus and ThreatDown EDR on every device as part of the support agreement, not an add-on
The things that get forgotten
- Printer, scanner and conference-room support, including the vendors behind them
- Backup checks with restores actually run, so the recovery time is known rather than guessed
- Keeper password management and multifactor authentication rolled out to every user
- A monthly report of what was fixed, what was patched and what needs a decision
A 12-person medical group or surgical center in Great Neck
The specific engagements behind this profile are under NDA, so it is written as a generalization rather than a named client. Our published, client-approved outcomes are in case studies.
A medical group or surgical center in Great Neck with 12 staff, half of them remote, supported by a break-fix technician who bills by the hour. The owner is the help desk and wants to stop being the help desk. Tickets go into an inbox nobody watches, athenahealth updates land on whoever clicks first, a laptop went missing last month and nobody can say what was on it.
- Windows Autopilot set up with the hardware supplier so new laptops ship sealed and configure themselves at first sign-in
- Backup jobs checked, a restore run and dated, and monitoring set so a failed job is a ticket rather than a surprise
- A monthly report established: tickets by type, patches applied, backup results and the decisions waiting on leadership
- NinjaOne RMM installed on every workstation and server, with monitoring, patching and remote support running from day one
- Intune enrollment for every laptop and phone, with a compliance policy so a lost or unpatched device cannot reach email, and remote wipe tested
- Printers, scanners and the conference room brought onto their own network segment with vendor support contracts recorded
The help desk becomes something people use, the security basics are on every device, and the problems that used to be emergencies are caught by monitoring first. Terms stay month to month.
Complete managed IT, cybersecurity and help desk for a 20-seat organization
At twenty seats a business is big enough that IT problems cost real time and small enough that nobody is paid to own them. NetSys brought devices, network, Microsoft 365 and vendors under one agreement with 24/7 monitoring and a named account manager, deployed endpoint protection, multifactor authentication, email protection and tested backups across all twenty seats, gave staff a help desk with engineers on the other end, and put every new hire through a defined onboarding process with recurring phishing training. The write-up is limited to the scope delivered, with no outcome figures claimed.
Compliance in Long Island: the SHIELD Act and what sits on top of it
If you hold personal information on a resident of New York, the New York SHIELD Act (General Business Law § 899-bb) requires any business holding private information on a New York resident, with no employee-count threshold, to keep reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, and § 899-aa sets the breach-notification duty. Small businesses get a scaled standard, not an exemption. Licensed financial businesses add NYDFS Part 500 (amended in November 2023, with multifactor authentication, asset inventories and annual certification now expected of nearly every covered entity). Healthcare practices layer HIPAA on top, and advisory firms answer to the SEC and FINRA. The support agreement keeps the day-to-day evidence current: who has access, what was patched, whether the backups restored and how a departure was closed out. Most firms we take over have none of it documented, which is the part that matters if you ever have to demonstrate compliance, so the documentation is built during onboarding rather than sold as a separate project.
What IT support costs in Long Island
IT support is priced per user per month, and the number moves with how much on-site time you need, whether after-hours coverage goes beyond monitoring, how many servers and specialized applications are in scope, and whether security tooling is already licensed or comes from us. Per-device pricing suits crews that share hardware. We quote from a short assessment, and the agreement runs month to month. Our managed IT pricing page sets out what sits inside the fee.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: 5 to 75 employees, mostly on Microsoft 365, with staff who need someone to call and nobody on payroll whose job is IT, or one person who needs a bench behind them.
Not a fit: businesses that want a technician on the payroll full time, or offices that need an engineer physically present every day. Support is remote-first with on-site work arranged in advance, and that suits most businesses under 75 people.

IT Support in Long Island: FAQs
Do you come on site?
Yes, when the work needs hands. Most problems are fixed remotely through NinjaOne the same day; hardware swaps, network closet work and office moves are visits arranged in advance. Where the engagement calls for regular on-site presence, a dedicated engineer is assigned to it, and the support scope states the on-site arrangement for your location in writing.
Do you support Macs as well as Windows?
Yes. Macs are managed through Intune or Jamf, protected with ThreatDown EDR, and supported by the same help desk. Mixed offices are normal.
How fast will someone respond?
Immediately, when the problem is severe: ransomware, systems down, no internet or email that has stopped working goes straight to your dedicated engineer. Everything else is worked by severity, so a person who cannot work is treated differently from a request to add a printer. Monitoring means many problems are worked before anyone calls.
Do you have an office in Long Island?
Our office is at 1 Prospect Park SW, Suite 6E, Brooklyn, NY 11215, and Nassau County is 45 to 60 minutes from Park Slope by car and western Suffolk 60 to 90, so on-site visits to Garden City, Melville or Hauppauge are scheduled work rather than a special trip. Engineers come to you for anything the help desk cannot fix remotely, and monitoring runs around the clock from Brooklyn. Every agreement is month to month.
Does the NY SHIELD Act apply to a small business?
Yes. It applies to any business holding private information on a New York resident, with no employee-count threshold. Small businesses get a scaled standard, meaning safeguards appropriate to their size, but not an exemption, and the breach-notification duty under § 899-aa applies to everyone.
