Managed IT Services in Long Island
NetSys runs IT for small and mid-sized businesses in Long Island: help desk, security, backups, Microsoft 365 and the network, for a flat monthly fee per user. We have run IT out of New York since 1998, and our engineers hold degrees in electrical and computer engineering. Our office is at 1 Prospect Park SW in Brooklyn, so Nassau County is 45 to 60 minutes from Park Slope by car and western Suffolk 60 to 90, so on-site visits to Garden City, Melville or Hauppauge are scheduled work rather than a special trip; engineers come to you for the work that needs hands, and monitoring and help desk run remotely around the clock. Most clients run between 10 and 75 seats, and every agreement is month to month.
The short answer
NetSys provides managed IT to businesses in Long Island: help desk with engineers on the line, 24/7 monitoring, patching, ThreatDown managed detection and response, Microsoft 365 and Intune administration, tested backups and vendor management, for a flat monthly fee per user. Engineers come to you for the work that needs hands; monitoring and help desk run remotely around the clock from our Brooklyn office. Most clients run between 10 and 75 seats, and every agreement is month to month.
How managed IT is delivered in Long Island
Our office is at 1 Prospect Park SW in Brooklyn, so Nassau County is 45 to 60 minutes from Park Slope by car and western Suffolk 60 to 90, so on-site visits to Garden City, Melville or Hauppauge are scheduled work rather than a special trip; engineers come to you for the work that needs hands, and monitoring and help desk run remotely around the clock. The buildings decide a lot of the design. Office parks along Route 110 and the Long Island Expressway have carrier choice, but medical suites in older Garden City and Great Neck buildings often share one circuit across several practices, and Hauppauge industrial parks put the server closet next to the shop floor, so segmentation and a second path out are designed on the first visit. The carriers we see most in Long Island are Optimum Business, Verizon Fios and Lightpath, and the failover design starts with which of them actually reach your building.
Who managed IT in Long Island is built for
Most of our Long Island work sits in Garden City, Melville, Hauppauge, Great Neck and Mineola: medical groups and surgical centers on athenahealth, manufacturers and aerospace suppliers on Epicor, accounting firms on CCH Axcess, law firms on Clio, insurance agencies on Applied Epic, and auto dealers on CDK Global. Each carries its own compliance load, which the section below covers, and each has a line-of-business vendor we coordinate with rather than work around. Companies with an internal IT person fit too; in that case we supply the monitoring, the security stack and the after-hours coverage behind them, and they keep their projects.
What tends to go wrong in Long Island
Two things shape the continuity design here. First, the weather and the grid: Sandy and Ida both flooded South Shore businesses, and summer thunderstorms take power out along the North Shore every year, so tested off-site backups and UPS runtime are part of every design. Second, the attacks that actually land locally are ordinary ones, and the public record shows how they go: the September 2022 ransomware attack on Suffolk County government, which took county websites, email and 911 support systems offline for weeks and was traced to an unpatched, internet-facing server. The controls in the next section are the ones that would have changed those stories.

A 30-person manufacturer or aerospace supplier in Garden City
The specific engagements behind this profile are under NDA, so it is written as a generalization rather than a named client. Our published, client-approved outcomes are in case studies.
A 30-person manufacturers and aerospace suppliers in Garden City running Epicor on a Windows Server 2016 box in a closet, Microsoft 365 licensed by a former office manager, and a break-fix provider who bills hourly and appears once something is already down. The break-fix arrangement now costs more in emergencies than a managed agreement would. Nobody can say who has access to what, the last backup restore was never tested, and the Lightpath circuit is the only path to the internet.
- ThreatDown MDR and EDR rolled out to every endpoint, with the console monitored around the clock
- Barracuda Email Protection placed in front of the mailboxes and SPF, DKIM and DMARC corrected so the company's own domain cannot be spoofed
- Intune enrollment for every laptop and phone, with Windows Autopilot registration for new hardware and a compliance policy that gates access to email and files
- Keeper password vault deployed so shared spreadsheets of passwords stop existing
- A written onboarding and offboarding checklist covering accounts, devices, access and hardware return
- Cutover in stages over three to four weeks, with the old provider's access removed at the end and no downtime during business hours
One provider is accountable for devices, network, Microsoft 365 and security. Staff call a help desk that fixes things, the insurer gets answers with evidence behind them, and leadership sees a quarterly roadmap instead of surprise invoices. The agreement runs month to month.
Complete managed IT, cybersecurity and help desk for a 20-seat organization
A 20-seat organization handed NetSys the whole of its IT. Devices, network, Microsoft 365 and vendors came under one agreement with 24/7 monitoring and a named account manager; endpoint protection, multifactor authentication, email protection and tested backups went onto all twenty seats; staff got a help desk with engineers on the other end; and every new hire now goes through a defined onboarding process with recurring phishing training. The write-up is limited to the scope delivered, with no outcome figures claimed.
Compliance in Long Island: the SHIELD Act and what sits on top of it
If you hold personal information on a resident of New York, the New York SHIELD Act (General Business Law § 899-bb) requires any business holding private information on a New York resident, with no employee-count threshold, to keep reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, and § 899-aa sets the breach-notification duty. Small businesses get a scaled standard, not an exemption. Licensed financial businesses add NYDFS Part 500 (amended in November 2023, with multifactor authentication, asset inventories and annual certification now expected of nearly every covered entity). Healthcare practices layer HIPAA on top, and advisory firms answer to the SEC and FINRA. The managed agreement produces the evidence those rules ask for as a by-product: access reviews, patch reports, backup test results and a written incident response plan. Most firms we take over have none of it documented, which is the part that matters if you ever have to demonstrate compliance, so the documentation is built during onboarding rather than sold as a separate project.
What managed IT costs in Long Island
Managed IT is priced per user per month for a fully managed agreement, and the number moves with four things more than with headcount: how many servers you run, whether you need after-hours coverage beyond monitoring, how much compliance documentation you carry, and whether we are co-managing alongside an internal person or running everything. We quote from an assessment, not a phone call, and the agreement runs month to month. What belongs in the monthly fee versus what is billed separately is set out on our managed IT pricing page.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: 10 to 75 employees, one or two offices plus remote staff, already on Microsoft 365 or ready to move there, and either no internal IT or one person who is underwater.
Not a fit: businesses under five people, who are usually better served by the small-office baseline described in our five-person case study, or organizations over 250 seats, which need an internal team we can co-manage with rather than replace.

Managed IT Services in Long Island: FAQs
Do we have to sign a long contract?
No. Every NetSys agreement runs month to month, with no long-term contract and no early-exit penalty. The scope, the responsibilities on each side and the monthly figure are written down before you sign.
Is cybersecurity included or extra?
Included. Endpoint detection and response, multifactor authentication and Conditional Access, email protection, security awareness training and immutable backups are part of every managed agreement. The free external penetration test runs remotely before you hire us.
How much do managed IT services cost in Long Island?
The figure is quoted per user per month from an assessment of your environment, and it moves with server count, after-hours coverage, compliance requirements and whether you keep an internal IT person more than with headcount. Our managed IT pricing page explains what sits inside the monthly fee and what is billed separately, so quotes can be compared on the same basis.
Do you have an office in Long Island?
Our office is at 1 Prospect Park SW, Suite 6E, Brooklyn, NY 11215, and Nassau County is 45 to 60 minutes from Park Slope by car and western Suffolk 60 to 90, so on-site visits to Garden City, Melville or Hauppauge are scheduled work rather than a special trip. Engineers come to you for anything the help desk cannot fix remotely, and monitoring runs around the clock from Brooklyn. Every agreement is month to month.
Does the NY SHIELD Act apply to a small business?
Yes. It applies to any business holding private information on a New York resident, with no employee-count threshold. Small businesses get a scaled standard, meaning safeguards appropriate to their size, but not an exemption, and the breach-notification duty under § 899-aa applies to everyone.
