Managed IT Services in Santa Barbara, CA
For Santa Barbara and Goleta businesses that want their IT run by one accountable team: wealth and professional offices downtown, medical practices near Cottage Hospital, tech and aerospace firms on the Goleta side, and hospitality and wine businesses along the coast. NetSys manages the help desk, devices, Microsoft 365, security and backups remotely, month to month.
The short answer
NetSys provides managed IT services in Santa Barbara, CA: engineers on the help desk, constant monitoring and patching through NinjaOne, threat detection and response from ThreatDown's analysts, tenant and device administration in Microsoft 365, backups we restore on a schedule and management of every technology vendor, for a per-user monthly fee set after an assessment. Service is remote and cloud-based from our Brooklyn office, and we do not send engineers to the South Coast; computers ship ready through Windows Autopilot. Engineers staff the help desk 1 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific daily, and monitoring and emergency service never pause.

How managed IT is delivered to Santa Barbara businesses
The whole service runs from Brooklyn. We onboard over remote sessions, deploy NinjaOne and ThreatDown to every Windows PC and Mac, take control of the Microsoft 365 tenant, and document devices, licenses and vendor contracts in IT Glue so you can read exactly what we manage. New laptops are registered with Windows Autopilot before they ship to a State Street office, a Goleta suite or an employee's home in Carpinteria, and they configure themselves at first sign-in. Firewalls and access points come configured and labeled; your staff or a local cabling contractor plugs them in while our engineer verifies the network remotely. US 101, the main road along this coast, was closed for nearly two weeks in January 2018, so we design support that never depends on anyone getting to your building. Monitoring runs 24/7 from Brooklyn, and so does emergency service. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time (1 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific), seven days a week. The proposal states severe-incident escalation, authorized remediation and any other after-hours work.
Who works on the South Coast, and the systems they depend on
Santa Barbara's largest employers are public and institutional: the County of Santa Barbara, UC Santa Barbara and Cottage Health each employ more than 4,000 people, and other large employers include Mission Linen Supply, the city school district, the City, Sansum Clinic, Raytheon and two software companies. Goleta adds Deckers, the footwear company based there, and defense and imaging firms near the university. The firms that hire an outside IT provider fill the gaps: wealth managers and family offices serving Montecito, law and accounting practices downtown near the courthouse, medical and therapy practices, nonprofits and foundations, architects and builders, software startups spun out of UCSB, and the hotels, restaurants and wineries that live on tourism. They run portfolio and CRM platforms, the practice's EHR and billing system, a document management system or a hotel property-management system, and we manage the identities, devices and networks those applications rely on.
Downtown buildings, Goleta parks and carrier options
Downtown offices sit in older buildings along State Street and its side streets, including the Funk Zone near the beach, where telecom closets are often shared and wiring is decades old. Goleta's business parks along Hollister Avenue, near the airport and UCSB, are newer and better provisioned. For a primary circuit, Frontier Business fiber and Spectrum Business, which now runs the former Cox Communications network in the area after the August 2026 merger, are options to check at your address. We like a second path on a different medium, usually cellular or fixed wireless, with automatic failover on a Meraki or Fortinet firewall and an alert to us when it happens. In older buildings we also document power and cooling in the closet, because a small unventilated closet with a server and a switch stack overheats quickly.
Fire, debris flows and a hospital data case: what Santa Barbara plans for
Few places have a disaster record as specific as this one. The Thomas Fire started on December 4, 2017 and burned 281,893 acres across Santa Barbara and Ventura counties before it was contained on January 12, 2018. Three days before containment, on January 9, debris flows from the burn scar tore through Montecito, killed 23 people and closed US 101 until January 21. The Tea, Jesusita and Painted Cave fires each destroyed homes in the foothills before that. Data risk has a local example too: in 2017 the California Attorney General settled with Cottage Health for $2 million after a server holding records of more than 50,000 patients had been connected to the internet without encryption or password protection. Our plans for Santa Barbara assume a closed highway and an empty office: cloud-first files, immutable backups outside the region and tested remote access.
The first 30 days, and the rules a Santa Barbara office documents
Month one runs on a plan. In week one we audit what is deployed against what you pay for, collect credentials from the outgoing provider and meet each vendor. Week two rolls out agents overnight and multifactor sign-in one team at a time. Week three moves backups and proves a restore, and week four closes old accounts and delivers a written report. Those records carry the compliance load. Practices handling medical information answer to HIPAA and the Confidentiality of Medical Information Act, one of the laws cited in the Cottage settlement. SEC-registered investment advisers must meet Regulation S-P as amended in 2024, including a written incident response program and customer notification. And since January 1, 2026, Civil Code 1798.82 generally requires notice to affected residents within 30 calendar days of discovering a breach. This is general information, not legal advice.
Managed IT Services in Santa Barbara: what NetSys delivers
Help desk and monitoring
- Unlimited help desk by phone, email and Teams, staffed by engineers rather than a ticket queue, with severe problems such as ransomware, systems down, no internet or email not working answered immediately by your dedicated engineer
- 24/7 monitoring of every server, workstation and firewall through NinjaOne RMM, with alerts an engineer acts on rather than forwards
Security, built in
- ThreatDown managed detection and response with EDR agents on every device, not just servers
- Microsoft Defender for Business, Entra ID Conditional Access and multifactor authentication across the Microsoft 365 tenant
Backups, devices and vendors
- Datto SIRIS or Veeam backups with immutable off-site copies, and live restores run on the schedule in the agreement with the result sent to you
- Intune and Windows Autopilot device management, so a new laptop ships sealed and configures itself at first sign-in
Complete managed IT, cybersecurity and help desk for a 20-seat organization
A 20-seat organization handed NetSys the whole of its IT. Devices, network, Microsoft 365 and vendors came under one agreement with 24/7 monitoring and a named account manager; endpoint protection, multifactor authentication, email protection and tested backups went onto all twenty seats; staff got a help desk with engineers on the other end; and every new hire now goes through a defined onboarding process with recurring phishing training. The write-up is limited to the scope delivered, with no outcome figures claimed.

What managed IT costs in Santa Barbara
Managed IT is priced per user per month for a fully managed agreement, and the number moves with four things more than with headcount: how many servers you run, whether you need after-hours coverage beyond monitoring, how much compliance documentation you carry, and whether we are co-managing alongside an internal person or running everything. We quote from an assessment, not a phone call, and the agreement runs month to month. What belongs in the monthly fee versus what is billed separately is set out on our managed IT pricing page.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: 10 to 75 employees, one or two offices plus remote staff, already on Microsoft 365 or ready to move there, and either no internal IT or one person who is underwater.

Managed IT Services in Santa Barbara: FAQs
How does managed IT work for Santa Barbara organizations?
Through remote tools and the Microsoft cloud, with a single team answering for everything. Our Brooklyn engineers handle the help desk, monitoring, patching, security, backups and Microsoft 365, and they take over calls to your internet, phone and software vendors. The South Coast is thousands of miles past the area where NetSys provides hands-on service, so no on-site work is part of the agreement; equipment arrives configured, and a local contractor does any cabling while we guide by phone. Ransomware or a full outage reaches your dedicated engineer without a queue, and the agreement runs month to month.
How much do managed IT services cost in Santa Barbara?
Per user per month, quoted from an assessment; we do not publish a number. A wealth-management office keeping SEC examination evidence, a law firm with a document management server and a twelve-person nonprofit in Microsoft 365 all land at different rates. The fee moves with servers in scope, compliance documentation, the number of offices and circuits, after-hours project work and whether you keep an internal IT person. Vendor management is included. Hardware, licensing and projects such as a server retirement or an office move are quoted separately.
Do you work with wealth managers and family offices near Montecito?
Yes. These firms tend to be small, with a lot of client money moving through email, so identity and email controls come first: multifactor authentication with Conditional Access, Barracuda filtering, DMARC on the domain, Keeper for shared credentials and a callback rule for any change to wiring instructions. We keep evidence of those controls for compliance reviews and SEC examinations, manage sign-in and devices for the portfolio and CRM platforms, and work with the custodian's and software vendor's support teams when something breaks.
Can a Santa Barbara office keep working if US 101 closes or the building is evacuated?
That is the scenario we design for. Files live in SharePoint and OneDrive rather than on one office server, every laptop runs the same security and policies at home as at the desk, phones move to Teams so calls follow the person, and backups sit outside Southern California with an immutable copy. We test that each staff member can work from home before an emergency, not during one. If a server has to stay in the building, it gets a UPS with automatic shutdown and a documented recovery plan.
Is NetSys a managed service provider with a Santa Barbara office?
No. Our one office is in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and we have managed IT for businesses since 1998. We serve South Coast companies remotely, which suits firms that already run on Microsoft 365 and cloud applications and want engineers who answer rather than a ticket queue. A business that needs a technician in the office every week should hire locally, and we will tell you so. What we offer instead is 98% client retention, month-to-month terms and an account manager you can reach on a real cell number.
