IT Services & Cybersecurity in The Woodlands, TX
The Woodlands holds chemical and energy headquarters, major hospital campuses and 13.4 million square feet of office space in a planned community 28 miles north of downtown Houston. NetSys is an IT company that runs managed IT, the help desk, cybersecurity and cloud services for Woodlands organizations remotely, from our office in Brooklyn, on month-to-month agreements.
The short answer
NetSys provides IT services and cybersecurity to businesses in The Woodlands, Texas: managed IT, an engineer-staffed help desk, ThreatDown endpoint detection and response, Microsoft 365 and Intune management, email security, tested backups and IT consulting for projects and migrations. All of it is remote and cloud-based. NetSys does not send engineers on site in The Woodlands; laptops arrive pre-configured through Windows Autopilot, and your staff or cabling contractor connects equipment with an engineer on the phone. The help desk is staffed seven days a week from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central, and monitoring and emergency service run 24/7. Managed IT is priced per user per month after an assessment.

What one IT provider handles for a Woodlands business
Most companies in The Woodlands are too small for a full IT department and too dependent on technology to run without one. NetSys fills that role under one agreement. We monitor and patch every computer through NinjaOne, run ThreatDown managed detection and response, administer Microsoft 365, Intune and Entra ID, filter email through Barracuda, back up servers and the Microsoft 365 tenant with Datto or Veeam, and manage the Cisco Meraki or Fortinet firewall at the edge of your network. We also take the calls you would rather not make: the internet provider, the copier company, the software vendor whose update broke something. Everything is documented in IT Glue, so the knowledge of how your office runs belongs to the business, not to one person. An account manager you can reach on a real cell number meets with you every quarter to plan hardware, licensing and projects.
How remote onboarding works for a Woodlands office
Onboarding starts with a call and a small software agent. An engineer interviews whoever handles IT today, installs NinjaOne on each computer, and inventories devices, accounts, licenses, the firewall and the Microsoft 365 tenant. Within about two weeks you get a written plan with costs, and nothing changes until you approve it. Cutover is scheduled around your calendar: ThreatDown goes onto every computer in place of the previous antivirus, each user enrolls in multifactor sign-in, passwords move into Keeper, and a test restore proves the backups work. Hardware that needs replacing ships pre-configured, so a staff member unboxes a laptop, signs in and finds email, files and applications waiting. If a new firewall is part of the plan, it arrives with its configuration loaded, and your cabling contractor or office manager swaps it in while an engineer watches from our console. For a 20-person office, three to four weeks from first call to finished cutover is typical.
Industries that cluster in The Woodlands
The Woodlands grew up around energy and chemicals, and the headquarters are still here: Huntsman on the Waterway, Chevron Phillips Chemical, and ExxonMobil's campus at City Place just south in Spring, with engineering, environmental, staffing and supply firms around them. Health care is now the bigger employer. The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership's 2025 report put health care at 32.6% of the major-employer workforce, led by Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital and St. Luke's Health, with medical office buildings clustered around each campus. Woodforest National Bank is headquartered on Lake Robbins Drive, and wealth advisers, accountants and law firms serve the executives and families who live in the villages. Conroe ISD and Lone Star College, whose system headquarters is here, round out the top employers. Each group brings its own rules, from HIPAA for clinics to SEC Regulation S-P for advisers.
Storms, power and the Spring Creek floodplain
Weather is the risk Woodlands offices plan around. During Harvey in August 2017, Spring Creek, Panther Branch and Bear Branch all reached historic levels, and preliminary counts showed 141 homes in The Woodlands with flood damage. In February 2021, the winter storm behind federal disaster declaration DR-4586 took power from much of Texas for days. Then Hurricane Beryl, on July 8, 2024, cut power to more than 250,000 Entergy customers in Montgomery County, and The Woodlands Fire Department counted 35 trees on homes that day. We design every client for weeks like those: battery backup that shuts servers and network gear down cleanly, a cellular connection that takes over when the main circuit drops, cloud-first file storage so staff can work from wherever has power, and backup copies kept well outside the Gulf Coast so one storm cannot reach both. AT&T Business Fiber, Comcast Business and Consolidated Communications are the circuit options to check at your address.
Ransomware and fraud close to home
Attacks in the region have been specific and expensive. In October 2022, ransomware at CommonSpirit Health took down a key patient-record system at St. Luke's Health in Houston for nearly two weeks, with staff on paper and emergency traffic diverted; St. Luke's Health is also one of the five largest employers in The Woodlands. A month earlier, OakBend Medical Center in Fort Bend County took every system offline after an attack and spent about three weeks restoring its clinical systems. In August 2019, a single threat actor hit 22 Texas local governments in one morning, and officials in one town said the attackers came in through the company that ran their IT, which is a good reason to ask any provider, us included, how its remote tools are protected. Over the past three years NetSys has worked more than 30 ransomware cases and recovered all of them; where a disaster recovery plan already existed, the client was running again inside 24 hours.
Texas law that applies to Woodlands companies
Under Texas Business and Commerce Code 521.052, a business must keep reasonable procedures protecting the sensitive personal information it holds, and section 521.053 sets a 60-day deadline for telling affected people about a breach, with a 30-day deadline for the Attorney General once 250 or more Texans are affected. The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, in force since July 1, 2024, reaches businesses that do not qualify as small under the SBA's definition. SB 2610, effective September 1, 2025, gives businesses with fewer than 250 employees a defense against exemplary damages if they kept a cybersecurity program aligned to a recognized framework such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework or the CIS Controls. Medical practices also answer to the Texas Medical Records Privacy Act, with its 90-day staff training rule, and to SB 1188, which since January 1, 2026 has required patient records to be stored in the United States. This is general information, not legal advice.

The Woodlands, TX FAQs
Who provides IT services in The Woodlands?
NetSys is one option: a managed IT and cybersecurity company founded in 1998, with one office in Park Slope, Brooklyn, that supports Woodlands organizations remotely. Our engineers hold degrees in electrical engineering, electronics engineering and computer science and carry Cisco and Microsoft certifications. A single month-to-month agreement covers monitoring, the help desk, security, Microsoft 365, backups, the network and vendor management, with a dedicated account manager. If your business needs a technician in the building on a regular basis, a provider based in the area is the better fit, and we will say so on the first call.
How does IT support work for The Woodlands organizations?
Remotely and in the cloud. Engineers in Brooklyn reach your computers through the NinjaOne agent, your Microsoft 365 tenant and the firewall's cloud console; NetSys does not send anyone to Woodlands offices. New machines ship pre-configured, and physical tasks such as mounting a firewall go to your staff or cabling contractor with an engineer guiding them. Staff call, email or open a ticket from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central on any day of the week. Ransomware, a server down, no internet or email down go straight to your dedicated engineer, day or night.
How much do IT services cost for a business in The Woodlands?
Our managed IT fee is a per-user monthly figure set after we assess your environment, so we do not publish a rate. The main drivers are the number of users and devices, whether servers remain in the office, how many locations and circuits you have, and the compliance documentation your industry requires. Projects such as a migration to Microsoft 365 or a new office network are quoted separately after scoping, as are hardware and licenses. Agreements are month to month, with no long-term contract.
How does remote onboarding work for businesses in The Woodlands?
From your staff's side it is short and quiet. They receive an email introducing the help desk, then, on a scheduled day, a prompt to set up multifactor sign-in with an engineer on the phone if they want one. Anyone getting a new laptop finds it at their desk or front door, already enrolled, and signs in to find their files waiting. Behind the scenes we have already inventoried the office, written the plan and agreed it with you, so the visible change is one number to call and fewer recurring problems.
What services do you offer to businesses in The Woodlands?
Managed IT services and IT support with an engineer-staffed help desk are the core. Around them we offer cybersecurity, including ThreatDown managed detection and response, Barracuda email protection, KnowBe4 training and Rapid7 vulnerability scanning; Microsoft 365, Intune and Entra ID management; backup and disaster recovery with Datto or Veeam; network security on Cisco Meraki or Fortinet firewalls; and IT consulting for migrations, Windows 11 upgrades and Windows Server 2016 replacements ahead of its January 12, 2027 end of support.
Can you support a company with offices in The Woodlands and Houston?
Yes. Distance between your offices makes no difference to remote support, so a firm with a Woodlands headquarters and offices in the Energy Corridor, Sugar Land or the Texas Medical Center area gets one standard: the same firewall configuration, Wi-Fi design, device policies and sign-in experience at every location. Staff who move between offices work the same way in each. The help desk, documentation and account manager cover the whole company under one per-user agreement, and we check the circuit options at each address separately.
Is there a free way to check our security before we commit?
Yes, one. NetSys offers a free external penetration test: a remote test of your internet-facing systems within a scope we agree in writing first, such as your firewall, VPN, email and public websites. You receive a report of what an outside attacker could find and what we would fix first. Everything else, including a full review of your internal environment, is part of the paid assessment that sets your managed IT pricing. Book a call with an engineer to arrange the test.
