Cybersecurity Services in Louisville, KY
Louisville has watched ransomware expose data on 2.5 million people at a local health system and close every Jefferson County Clerk branch for days. NetSys protects Louisville businesses against the same attacks with managed detection and response, locked-down Microsoft 365 sign-in, filtered email, phishing training and backups an attacker cannot delete, watched around the clock from our Brooklyn office.
The short answer
For Louisville businesses, NetSys runs cybersecurity as an ongoing managed service rather than a one-time audit. Every endpoint gets ThreatDown detection and response backed by analysts, Microsoft 365 sign-in requires a second factor through Entra ID Conditional Access, Barracuda filters mail before it lands, and Datto or Veeam keeps immutable copies of your data. KnowBe4 training, Rapid7 scans and Keeper vaults close the remaining gaps. Alerts are watched 24/7 and threats can be contained remotely at any hour; NetSys sends no staff to Louisville. Pricing is per user per month, as part of managed IT or as a security-only agreement, on month-to-month terms.

How cybersecurity is delivered to Louisville organizations
Everything is installed and operated over the network. The ThreatDown and NinjaOne agents go onto each computer and server, Barracuda sits in front of Exchange Online, and Conditional Access policies decide which devices and countries may sign in at all. When ThreatDown sees ransomware behavior, the affected machine is cut off from the network from Brooklyn while everyone else keeps working, and your dedicated engineer takes the case. There are no NetSys engineers in Kentucky and none are sent to your office: if a firewall fails, its replacement ships with your rules already loaded, and a staff member connects it while our engineer verifies it from the console. Rapid7 scans run on a schedule, and each finding becomes a patch ticket with an owner and a date. Monitoring runs 24/7 from Brooklyn, and so does emergency service. Our staffed help-desk hours are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. The proposal states severe-incident escalation, authorized remediation and any other after-hours work.
What the Norton Healthcare attack showed Louisville
Norton Healthcare, the Louisville-based hospital system, discovered a ransomware attack on May 9, 2023. Its later filing with the Maine Attorney General said intruders had access to network storage devices from May 7 to May 9 and that about 2.5 million people were affected, with names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and health and insurance details among the data taken. Norton said it did not pay a ransom and that its medical record system was not compromised. The lesson for a 25-person Louisville firm is that file shares and storage appliances are targets in their own right, separate from the main application. We inventory where sensitive files actually live, remove broad access, turn on logging that records who opened what, and keep immutable backups so a stolen or encrypted share can be restored without talking to criminals.
A county office closed by ransomware in 2024
On July 22, 2024, ransomware forced the Jefferson County Clerk's Office to shut all eight of its branches, halting vehicle registrations and other services for days. Officials said the attack began around 2 a.m., the FBI and CISA assisted, and more than 300 computers had to be checked one at a time before staff could reopen. Early assessments found no personal information compromised; the downtime itself was the damage. A private business faces the same arithmetic, because every machine has to be proven clean before people log back in. ThreatDown isolation and rollback, a NinjaOne inventory of every device, and backups that can rebuild a workstation make that process far shorter. The incident plan we write with you also names who calls the insurer, who speaks to customers and which systems come back first.
Which controls stop the most attacks for a Louisville company
Stolen passwords and malicious email remain the usual ways in, so the program starts there. Multifactor sign-in goes onto Microsoft 365, the VPN and every vendor portal, and legacy authentication protocols that bypass it are switched off. ThreatDown then replaces the consumer antivirus that shipped with the laptops, with analysts reviewing detections overnight. Barracuda filters inbound mail, and SPF, DKIM and DMARC records reduce spoofing of your domain, which matters for any company that emails invoices or freight confirmations. Backups move to immutable storage and are proven by restoring a real server and a mailbox. KnowBe4 sends monthly simulated phishing so staff learn what a fake supplier payment change looks like. Rapid7 scanning and Keeper vaults deal with what is left, such as unpatched printers and passwords kept in spreadsheets.
Kentucky law and the first 30 days of a security program
Days one to ten: agents go on, every device and account is inventoried, and we run the free external penetration test, a remote test of your firewall, VPN and public sign-in pages within a scope you approve in writing. Days eleven to twenty: ThreatDown and multifactor sign-in roll out department by department, and shared logins move into Keeper. Days twenty-one to thirty: Barracuda and DMARC go live, KnowBe4 sets a phishing baseline, and a restore test proves recovery. You finish with a written program mapped to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. That program also supports Kentucky duties: KRS 367.3617 requires covered controllers to maintain reasonable administrative, technical and physical data security practices, and KRS 365.732 requires breach notice without unreasonable delay. This is general information, not legal advice.
Cybersecurity in Louisville: what NetSys delivers
Detection and response
- ThreatDown managed detection and response with EDR agents on every workstation, laptop and server, monitored 24/7
- Microsoft Defender for Business and Rapid7 InsightIDR telemetry from identities, email and endpoints, with a person acting on alerts
Identity and email
- Entra ID Conditional Access and multifactor authentication across Microsoft 365, with legacy authentication switched off
- Privileged access and privileged identity management so admin rights are granted just in time and removed afterwards
Exposure and recovery
- Rapid7 InsightVM vulnerability scanning on a schedule, with findings fixed rather than filed
- Cisco Meraki or Fortinet firewall management, segmentation and DNS filtering on office and remote devices
Law office: layered security on Microsoft 365 with cloud-to-cloud backup
A 25-attorney firm needed client confidences protected better than a closet server could manage. Alongside a Microsoft 365 migration, NetSys layered anti-phishing and email threat protection, DNS filtering, multifactor authentication on every account and endpoint protection across attorney devices in the office and remote, and established independent cloud-to-cloud backup of the entire tenant because the recycle bin is not a backup strategy for privileged material. The firm reported 82% fewer IT support incidents per month within two quarters.

What cybersecurity costs in Louisville
Cybersecurity is priced per user per month when it runs as an ongoing service, and per project for an assessment or a remediation. What moves the number: how many devices and identities are in scope, how much incident remediation and recovery is needed beyond the monitoring and authorized MDR actions in scope, which compliance standard the evidence has to satisfy, and whether the Microsoft 365 tenant is already on Business Premium or the security tooling comes from us. The free external penetration test costs nothing and runs remotely before any of that. Our managed IT pricing page explains how the fee is built.
Who this fits, and who it does not
Best fit: businesses with enough people, money movement or regulated data that a breach would hurt, and no security team of their own: professional practices, healthcare groups, importers, financial firms, nonprofits and agencies holding client credentials. Companies with an internal IT person fit as a co-managed arrangement.

Cybersecurity in Louisville: FAQs
How does cybersecurity work for Louisville organizations?
It runs as a managed service from Brooklyn. Agents report to ThreatDown and NinjaOne, sign-in rules live in Entra ID, and inbound mail passes through Barracuda first. Analysts watch for threats around the clock, and confirmed incidents go straight to your dedicated engineer, who can isolate a computer, disable an account or block a sender remotely. Routine questions go to the help desk, staffed 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern, Louisville's own time zone. No NetSys engineer comes to your office, so physical changes use equipment shipped preconfigured. A monthly report lists blocked threats, patch status and open risks.
How much do cybersecurity services cost in Louisville?
Security is billed per user per month, either inside a managed IT agreement or as a security-only service, with the figure set by an assessment. It depends on the number of users, computers and servers, whether Azure workloads need coverage, how many sites and firewalls are involved, and the compliance evidence you need, such as HIPAA safeguards or a CTPAT cybersecurity policy. Incident response beyond the agreed scope and projects such as a firewall replacement are quoted separately. The free external penetration test costs nothing and runs remotely within a written scope.
Does the Kentucky Consumer Data Protection Act require specific security controls?
It names no products, but it sets a standard. KRS 367.3617 says a covered controller must establish, implement and maintain reasonable administrative, technical and physical data security practices, appropriate to the volume and nature of the personal data. In practice that means access control, multifactor sign-in, encryption, logging, patching, vendor contracts and tested backups, with records that show them. The act has applied since January 1, 2026, to businesses above its 100,000-consumer threshold or the 25,000-consumer threshold for data sellers, and after a 30-day cure period the Attorney General can seek up to $7,500 per continued violation.
Can you help with cyber insurance questionnaires?
Yes. Carriers now ask detailed questions about multifactor sign-in, endpoint detection, backups, privileged accounts and training, and an inaccurate answer can put a claim at risk. We answer each question from the controls we actually run and attach evidence where the carrier asks for it: Conditional Access policies, ThreatDown coverage reports, backup restore logs and KnowBe4 completion records. If a control is missing, we tell you before renewal and give you the cost and time to add it, so the application you sign is accurate.
What should a Louisville business do in the first hour of a ransomware attack?
Disconnect affected computers from the network but leave them powered on, so evidence survives. Do not pay or contact the attackers. Call your IT provider, then your cyber insurer, whose policy may require its approved responders and counsel. Change passwords from a clean device, starting with email and banking. With NetSys the first step usually happens automatically: ThreatDown isolates the machine and pages your dedicated engineer, who preserves logs, disables compromised accounts and starts restoring from immutable backups. Over the last three years our engineers have worked more than 30 ransomware cases, and each ended in full recovery.
See what an attacker sees before they do.
The free assessment is a remote external penetration test, limited to the information available to NetSys and the external scope we agree with you. Internal reviews and ongoing security management are scoped separately.
