AI Consulting in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles companies run on deadlines set by other people: a delivery date for a post house, a season for an apparel maker, a vessel schedule for an importer near the ports, a payer's rules for a medical group. AI consulting here has to respect those calendars and California's rulebook at the same time. NetSys assesses, pilots and governs AI for Los Angeles firms remotely from Brooklyn, with meetings in Pacific time and a written plan you keep.

All IT services in California

The short answer

NetSys delivers AI consulting to Los Angeles businesses remotely from Brooklyn: a readiness assessment, use cases ranked by hours returned, a pilot on your own data in Copilot, Claude or ChatGPT, a usage policy, training and the AI security assessment, with meetings in Pacific time. What makes Los Angeles different is California's CCPA and its 2026 automated decision-making rules.

How AI consulting is delivered to Los Angeles companies

The engagement is remote by design. Discovery interviews run over Teams or Zoom in Pacific time, usually between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Los Angeles time so that both coasts are at work, and the people we interview are the ones doing the task, not only their managers. The systems side uses read-only access you approve: the Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace tenant, the line-of-business application a candidate task lives in, and the sign-in and app-consent logs that reveal which AI tools staff already use. NetSys does not send consultants to Los Angeles offices, and nothing in an AI assessment needs a site visit; the work is in the data, the permissions and the people's time. Whether the office is in Century City, Downtown, Santa Monica, Burbank, El Segundo or a Vernon warehouse, the delivery is the same, and a pilot cutover is scheduled around your production or shipping calendar. Where AI fits in Los Angeles industries

LAEDC's industry cluster research names entertainment, health care, trade and logistics, biosciences and aerospace among the county's defining clusters, and small firms around each have repetitive work worth measuring. A production company or agency spends hours on treatments, call sheets, status reports and asset metadata across Frame.io, Avid or Workamajig; an apparel or consumer brand on purchase order and chargeback paperwork inside its ERP and PLM; a freight forwarder or customs broker on document extraction ahead of CargoWise or a transportation management system; a medical group on pre-visit summaries, referral letters and prior authorizations that must stay inside the EHR's permission model; an engineering firm on proposal drafting from past work. The assessment scores each task on hours returned, error cost, data readiness and running cost, and names the ones to leave manual, such as creative approvals or clinical decisions. Use the AI ROI calculator with your own task times for a planning estimate before the first call.

California's AI and privacy rules a Los Angeles pilot must respect

California regulates AI through privacy and civil rights law rather than one AI statute. The California Consumer Privacy Act applies to for-profit businesses that exceed 25 million dollars in adjusted annual revenue, handle personal information of 100,000 or more consumers or households, or earn half their revenue from selling or sharing it (Civil Code 1798.140). The California Privacy Protection Agency's regulations on automated decision-making technology, risk assessments and cybersecurity audits took effect January 1, 2026; businesses using automated decision-making technology for significant decisions must comply by January 1, 2027, risk assessment attestations are due by April 1, 2028, and audit certifications phase in from 2028 to 2030 by revenue. The Civil Rights Council's regulations on automated decision systems in employment took effect October 1, 2025 and require four years of record retention. Civil Code 1798.82 requires breach notice to affected residents within 30 days and a sample notice to the Attorney General when more than 500 Californians are notified. Your counsel decides which apply; the pilot charter records the data, decisions and retention they will ask about.

Running a pilot across three hours of time difference

A pilot has one task, a named group, a baseline and a review date, and the time zone changes only the scheduling. Permission fixes in a Microsoft 365 tenant, such as removing everyone-links, anonymous sharing and dormant accounts, happen before any Copilot license is assigned, in an evening window Pacific time with an engineer live. A Claude Team or ChatGPT Business workspace is created on company sign-in with retention and training settings checked against the vendor's current terms. Staff log the task for two weeks before the tool arrives and during the pilot, and the review counts quality, correction effort, exceptions and real usage. The weekly pilot check-in is a 30-minute call at a Pacific hour, and the go, adjust or stop decision is written down. Our published Claude work for a lean team shows the pattern of per-user access scoping and source-traceable reporting; it is not presented as a Los Angeles engagement.

Policy, training and the AI security assessment for a Los Angeles team

Discovery almost always finds AI already in use through personal accounts, often with client footage, scripts or patient details pasted in. The governance deliverable is a short acceptable use policy that names the approved tools, the information that must never go into them and the person to ask; the AI usage policy template guide explains each section and the AI policy generator drafts one from your answers, which we tighten after the pilot. Training is role-based and remote, scheduled in Pacific time in the apps people already use; the format is on our AI training page. The AI security assessment runs alongside the pilot and asks the questions California's rules and your clients' security questionnaires will ask: which account each tool acts through, where prompts and outputs are stored and for how long, which connectors can write, and whether a prompt injection in a shared file could move data out.

Illustrative engagement

A 60-person Burbank post-production company drowning in status reports

This planning example shows how we could scope the work. It is not a claim about a customer in this market or a measured result. For published customer work, see our case studies.

Illustrative planning example, not a client. Producers spend hours each week assembling client status updates, delivery checklists and asset metadata from Frame.io, the scheduling system and email. Editors use personal ChatGPT accounts to draft client notes, sometimes pasting unreleased material. The owners want a safe, measured path, and a studio client has just sent a security questionnaire asking about AI use.

  • Remote interviews with four producers and two coordinators in Pacific time, with task logging for two weeks
  • Tenant and workspace review: sharing settings, dormant accounts, app consents and the personal AI accounts in use
  • Three candidates scored: status report drafting from project data, delivery checklist assembly, and metadata tagging; creative review and client approvals kept manual with the reason recorded
  • A Claude Team pilot charter for one producing team, workspace on company sign-in with retention settings documented, and a personal-account policy issued before the pilot
  • The AI security assessment written to answer the studio's questionnaire, and a rollout training plan by role for after the review

The deliverables are a ranked use-case plan, a pilot charter and baseline, a signed acceptable use policy, a documented workspace configuration, the security assessment report in a form the client's questionnaire can use, and a training plan. Expansion is decided at the pilot review against the charter.

Custom apps, dashboards and financial reporting on Anthropic Claude for a lean team

A small team had more recurring work than people: pulling numbers together, producing reports and answering the same questions about the state of the business each month. NetSys set access and data-handling rules before any source was connected, then built purpose-built applications and dashboards around the team's own workflows and automated the monthly financial reporting into a review-ready roundup with every number traceable to its source and a person reviewing it before use. No time or cost figures were measured for publication.

California rules that reach an AI project in Los Angeles

The California Consumer Privacy Act (Civil Code 1798.100 and following) applies to for-profit businesses above the thresholds in 1798.140, and Civil Code 1798.82 requires breach notice to residents within 30 days with a sample to the Attorney General when more than 500 are notified. The California Privacy Protection Agency's regulations on automated decision-making technology, risk assessments and cybersecurity audits took effect January 1, 2026, with ADMT compliance due January 1, 2027. The Civil Rights Council's employment regulations on automated decision systems took effect October 1, 2025. Checked on cppa.ca.gov, calcivilrights.ca.gov and the official code text on November 7, 2026. Your legal adviser determines which duties apply.

What AI consulting costs in Los Angeles

A fixed scope quoted after a first call, with no hourly meter on discovery. The quote follows how many teams and workflows are in scope, how many systems a tool must read or write, how much sharing and permission cleanup comes first, and whether the pilot uses a tool you already license or a custom build. Remote delivery means no travel line. Licenses and model usage are running costs estimated in the plan, builds are quoted after the pilot, and support is month to month.

How the monthly fee is built

Who this fits, and who it does not

Best fit: Los Angeles companies of roughly 10 to 200 people in media and production, apparel and consumer brands, logistics and trade, health care or professional services, with recurring work worth measuring and client contracts that ask how AI is governed.

Not a fit: a company that wants generic AI training with no task behind it, or one whose first use case is an automated hiring or lending decision with no counsel engaged on California's rules.

Common Questions

AI Consulting in Los Angeles: FAQs

Do you work with Los Angeles businesses on site?

No. NetSys works on site only within about 50 miles of New York City. Los Angeles engagements run remotely from Brooklyn: interviews, workshops and pilot reviews over video in Pacific time, system access through read-only tools you approve, and training delivered remotely by role. An AI assessment needs people's time and system access, not a site visit.

How is AI consulting priced for a Los Angeles company?

As a fixed scope quoted after a first call. The assessment and the pilot each have a written scope and a price, a rollout or build is quoted after the pilot review, licenses and model usage are running costs estimated in the plan, and support runs month to month. There is no hourly billing on open-ended discovery and no price list. The AI ROI calculator gives a planning estimate from your own numbers.

Does the CCPA apply to a 50-person Los Angeles firm?

Only if the business crosses one of the thresholds in Civil Code 1798.140: more than 25 million dollars in adjusted annual revenue, personal information of 100,000 or more consumers or households, or half its revenue from selling or sharing that information. Many firms under those thresholds still carry CCPA duties by contract with larger clients, and the breach notice rule in 1798.82 applies regardless of size. Your counsel makes the call; we record the data each use case touches so they can.

What changes on January 1, 2027 for automated decisions in California?

That is the CPPA's compliance date for businesses that use automated decision-making technology to make significant decisions about consumers, under the regulations that took effect January 1, 2026. If a candidate use case would decide or substantially influence hiring, lending, housing, health care or similar outcomes, we flag it in the assessment, and most first pilots are chosen to stay well away from that category.

Can you work with Google Workspace rather than Microsoft 365?

Yes. Many Los Angeles agencies and production companies run Google Workspace. The assessment reviews sharing settings and app access there, and the pilot typically uses a Claude Team or ChatGPT Business workspace on Google sign-in, or Gemini where it fits the task. Microsoft 365 Copilot is recommended only where the work actually lives in the Microsoft tenant.

How do you handle unreleased or confidential creative material?

By keeping it out of tools whose terms allow training on your content and out of personal accounts entirely. The acceptable use policy names what may never be pasted into an AI tool, the pilot workspace is configured on company sign-in with retention settings documented, and the security assessment records where prompts and outputs are stored. Your client contracts and counsel decide what is permitted; the engagement gives them the configuration evidence.

What happens after the pilot?

A written go, adjust or stop decision. If the pilot meets its measure, the rollout is quoted: licenses on the seats that earn them, role-based training, the policy finalized and a named owner for each tool. If NetSys builds a custom agent or application the plan recommends, that is quoted separately, and month-to-month support can cover the AI tools alone or sit inside a managed IT agreement.
